UNILAB PCOIL is the software for the design and verification of heat exchangers composed by pillow plates arranged side by side and inserted in a frame. This special heat exchanger can be used
for heat recuperators from steam and usually the fluid which circulates inside the plates is diathermic oil. The software is able to calculate both the verification and design of these exchangers. Furthermore, before the definitive printout, the user can visualize the plate and frame plans, both generated automatically.
The results can be aligned with your experimental data using the correction factors. It would take
days to design a complex type of exchanger, made with continuous or mixed type welding. With
UNILAB PCOIL and its heat transfer results, even niche calculations like heat recovery vaporizers
can be easily achieved.
Currently, UNILAB PCOIL like all software UNILAB, has a wide variety of fluids: it contains the thermodynamic and thermophysical properties with 12 mixtures of liquids and a list of more than 300
liquids, gases and refrigerants from the REFPROP NIST (National Institute of Standards and Tech-
nology).
