4. Sorta like an olive branch to all the countries in East Asia which have been in
aggression in the South China Sea
5. To counter USA's PIVOT policy & USA's TRANS PACIFIC PARTNERSHIP (TPP) in
6. To set up base in Indian Ocean via Maldives, Lanka etc.
7. Straits of Malacca = vital choke point; more than 80% of China's trade passes

From Iran's Chabahar port which we are developing, we've got another initiativ
INTERNATIONAL NORTH SOUTH TRANSPORT CORRIDOR or INSTC.
It's a ship, road and rail route for moving freight between Russia, Europe, Iran,
India has asked Uzbekistan to be a part of INSTC.
