Mechanics for SABA QUIZ BOWL CHALLENGE

Guideline

The SABA quiz bowl challenge shall comprises Finance 1, Management


1, Marketing 1 and basic accounting subject.
Contestants must be a group of three (3), consisting of a/an accounting
student, Finance student and Marketing student.
Each round is consisting of 10 items. A multiple choice type of
question shall be given for the Easy and Average round. But there will
be no choices provided for the difficult round.
Each correct answer corresponds to 2 points for easy round, 3 points
for average round, and 5 points for difficult round.
In case the contestants cant answer the question they can use special
powers
In between rounds, there will be a two minutes null for the
computation of the final score per round, by which will be announced
before the next round will start.
The group with the highest cumulative points earned will be declared
the winner.
In case of a tie, a tie breaker question will be given until the deadlock
is broken

Reading Mechanics

Questions during the easy round will be limited to fifteen seconds per
question. Average round questions will have a 30 seconds limit each.
While difficult round questions will be given a 60 seconds allotted time
per question.
Each question will be read once by the quiz master.
The contestants will only start answering after the prompt is announce
by the quiz master.

Answering Mechanics

Each team contestant will be provided with an official answering board.


Only the final answer should be written in the answering board.

o If it is a multiple choice type of question the answer should be


written in capital letter. And no change of answer will be allowed
after the time is up.
o In case of identification type of question, the answer should be
written with the correct spelling or with the correct amount, (with
a peso sign if needed). The answer should also be rounded off to
the nearest whole number.
The contestant should stop writing when the time is up. Only complete
answer which complies with the above requirements will be considered
correct.

Special Power
1. Leech Seed (LS)- This special power allows a contestant to copy the
answer of another participant. Only the copied answer will be considered for
the contestant who will be using the LS regardless whether he has written an
answer on his answer board or not. To use this power the leeching contestant
should write on his answer board LS
2. Double team (DT)- This special power allows a contestant to copy the
answer of another participant but still retain his original answer. Hence, two
answers will be considered for the user of DT his original answer and the
answer of the contestant whom he copies from. To use this power the
contestant should write on the top portion of his answer board DT and his
answer should be written under
3. Rest (R)- This special power allows a contestant to avoid answering a
particular question but still gain the point corresponding to that question. To
use this power, the contestant must raise his Blue Flag duringor after the
tallying of scores for a particular question but before the reading of the first
word of the immediately subsequent question.
4. Protect (P)- This special power allows a contestant to deflect all other SPs
that may be inflicted upon him (LS and DT) for two (3) consecutive questions.
In addition, he will be allowed to use his other SPs only after the first
question to which the Protect has an effect had been answered. To use this
power, the contestant must raise his White Flag during or after tallying of
scores for a particular question but before the reading of the first word of the
immediately subsequent question.
