This list is designed to help you plan your week. There will be a to-do list each week. On this list
you will see the required and optional activities for this week of the course. For your
convenience, there is also a simplified checklist (PDF):
https://d396qusza40orc.cloudfront.net/shaping1landscape/week2/checklist_end_of_week2.pdf
We estimate that you will spend about 5-6 hours on the activities for this week. This includes
about an hour each for
viewing videos, taking notes, and responding to the in-video questions
reading the required article and taking notes as needed
reading and posting on the discussion forums
project work: preparing a lesson plan (probably more than an hour)
The remaining time would be spent on participating in the contest thread, doing the Pre-viewing
Knowledge Check and Weekly Quiz, and undertaking personal explorations of the optional
readings and video.
See the Suggested Week 2 Schedule below to help manage your time.

You can also find forums where you can share problems and get suggestions from your peers,
as well as contact the instructors about issues with the materials, by looking at the >All
Discussion Forums link on the left sidebar of any course page.
Optional:
If you havent done so already, please add information to your Coursera profile by clicking on
your name in the top right corner of the screen and selecting >Profile. If you are willing to share
information with others, pull down the >Privacy menu and select >The Coursera community.
You can add whatever information you are willing to share. Please understand that everyone
in our MOOC and in other Coursera courses will be able to see the information.
Also, please introduce yourself in the Introductions Forum (linked in the left sidebar or within
the >All Discussion Forums list, also on the left sidebar) if you have not done so already. The
Introductions Forum posts are visible only to members of our course. Your introduction will help
others in our course connect with you.
If you are receiving too much email, change your >Course Preferences in the pull-down
menu under your name.

Your notes on the reading and on the video will help you prepare for the required Weekly Quiz
at the end of the week.
5. Forum Discussions (participation is graded)
Respond to the questions based on the video and your Required Reading assignment in at least
one of the Required Discussion Forums, either for Teachers of Young Learners or Teachers of
Teens and Adult Learners. Choose the required forum from the list in the >All Discussion
Forums link in the left sidebar.
Note: You may participate in any forum (see the >All Discussion Forums link in the left sidebar),
but you will be graded only on the Required Forums. You will need a minimum of two
responses (new threads, posts, or comments) in at least one Required forum for each week.
Each post/comment must be substantive, related to the topic of the week, and unique (just
saying "I agree" is not enough).
If you share an idea that you found somewhere else, you MUST include the source of the
idea, such as the URL. Be especially sure to include the source and quotation marks if you are
copying and pasting from somewhere else so that you avoid plagiarism. Plagiarism is a violation
of the Coursera Honor Code.
Be sure to read the Netiquette file before posting in any forum:
