In this essay I would be speaking about my visit to Jaipur, The capital city of
Rajasthan, the desert state of India. It is not as urban as other metropolitan cities of the
country but it still have an immense charm within itself because of its affluent and strong
history and houses. Jaipur is a city of culture, heritage and it is one of the hottest tourist
destinations. It is one of the only cities in India that is planned and constructed within
four years by the architect. This city is famous for having the color of the stone that is
explicitly used in the walls of the city, as so the city is known as the Pink City. I visited
Jaipur with my family for a family vacation. I had heard about this city from many
friends and family so I really wanted to visit the place to experience the cities culture
myself. I stayed in Jaipur for a week and was in complete awe with the culture and the
heritage of the city, because of its impressing Forts, museums and the floating palace. It
has spacious gardens and broad streets, which reminded me about the pre modern times
of India. Jaipur is deeply embedded in its history and culture. The hustling bazaar of
Jaipur is well known for its Rajasthani jewelry, fabric, shoes, pottery and dye scarves.
The food of Rajasthan is also very famous. The most popular drink we get in Jaipur is the
hot milk where the guy prepares the milk in front of the people and the tourists savor it.
These items do posses an everlasting quality. The captivating city has a romantic bliss
environment-taking visitors to era of luxury and tradition. The hotels of the city are
attractive and majestic. The experiences of these hotels are worth experiencing in our
lifetime because the hotel itself incorporates rich Indian culture and gives a royal as well
as a luxurious feeling to all the tourists staying in these hotels. The places, which were
later, converted into hotels for tourists were the royal houses of the kings and their
families. There are many famous hotels in Jaipur such as Raj villas, Oberios, Ram bagh

palace hotel etc. All these hotels are the heirlooms houses in the city. During my visit I
stayed in the hotel Raj Villas because this hotel was rated as one the best hotels and it was
also awarded an award for best services in Asia. The entire hotel was steeped with Jaipur
culture and their heritage.

I had a great sense of familiarity with the city Jaipur because its in my home
country and even I was aware about the city through my history classes. My family
would often talk about this city. I would hear the stories about my ancestors how they
grew up in the city. Therefore, it was really important for me to go and discover the city
myself. Before going for the trip I had no expectation from the city in terms of
entertainment and the cities beauty. In the history classes I just learnt about the different
types of forts, which was there, and how the kings used to rule the city of Jaipur. So I was
anticipating the city to be very traditional and old fashioned. According to me I even
think that all the buildings and the forts will not be maintained properly so I really want
to visit the place to see how they conserve their old heritage.

Jaipur is a proof of rich Indian culture and rule of royal families. The city has
some well-known magnificent sightseeing places. Mughals and Rajputs inspire the
architecture of Jaipur. Jaipur is famous for various forts. Some of the most important
places of Jaipur which we visited was Amber fort, Nahargarh fort, Jaigrah fort, City
palace, Jantar mantar , Albert Hall museum, Jal Mahal and Hawa Mahal In particular, the
most famous out of these places are Hawa Mahal which is also known as Palace of
winds. It is the most visited spot of the city. The palace had around 963 windows that

were specially designed for women so that they could see the activities happening on the
streets and bazaars. The next spot that we visited was Amber Fort. The fort was made up
of four courtyards, and each with their own specific reason. For example the courtyards
were used for public assemblies, private sectors for the royal family and the queen
housing. I was amazed looking at the size and the extravagant mosaic design and
architecture of the fort. The next spot, which we visited, was Jantar Mantar, which was an
observatory deck. It was the huge sandstone instrument, which was used to study the
movements of constellation and stars in the sky. It still provides the accurate information
that changes daily. Other iconic factor of this city is food. One of the places, which we
visited, was Choki Dhani, which means Special Village. We relished the authentic
Rajasthani thali that was delicious. We even enjoyed the traditional tribal dance as well as
the puppet show. My family and I also enjoyed the elephant and camel rides available in
the village. It is the combination of these places which makes the city Iconic. Therefore,
I would definitely recommend this city to my friends to go visits and experience the
culture and tradition.

One memory, which will always remain in my mind, will be the exciting road trip
to the city with my cousins. It was a five-hour car journey from Delhi. It was after a long
time I had spent my time with my cousins. Most of the car journey we spent was singing,
dancing and telling jokes and enjoying the scenic site and high risen landscapes. We even
relished few local foods while travelling to Jaipur.

To conclude, I would like to visit the golden temple, which is located in Amritsar.
It is the holiest place for Sikh religion. It is the most famous pilgrimage spot in India.
Thousands of tourists visit this place all over the year. The structure and the beautiful mix
of colors are so fascinating. It is very famous because of its architectural beauty and
charm. The temple is famous for its gorgeous golden structure at the center. The golden
plates cover the exterior walls as well as the dome of the temple. They even have
sophisticated marble sculptures. There is a lake that surrounds the temple, which is also
considered very holy, and it is known as Pool of Nectar. The marble pathway is
known as Gurus bridge because the walkway leads to the temple. Another unique feature
of Golden temple is the food that is called Guru ka Langar which is prepared by
temple authorities. The food of the place I have heard is worth trying. . The reason I want
to visit the place is to see the iconic and unique architecture. I have heard positive
reviews about the place and how calm and peaceful the place is. Therefore, this the
reasons I want to visit this place next.
