2-day GIS fast-track* Course


*Learn the basics of GIS on a 2-day intensive course

GIS?
GIS is a powerful tool for use in the terrestrial, coastal and marine environment, with applications
in sectors as diverse as transport and logistics to fisheries science and tourism and from disaster
management and conservation to planning and research.

This short ‘fast-track’ course will focus on practical applications of GIS. The course will be hands-on, giving the
participants the opportunity to gain GIS skills using a variety of data types. Participants will also gain
knowledge of specific applications such as visualisation techniques and Internet technologies. The course will
be run by the Coastal and Marine Resources Centre in conjunction with the Department of Geography, UCC.
Ideally, the participants will have good computer skills but do not need previous GIS experience.
