Second and 4th grade students will be taking the Cognitive Abilities Test
(CogAT) on October 27, 28 and 29. CogAT is a nationally norm-referenced test
that helps teachers gather information about how students learn. It is also used as
one of several measures for placement in the academically gifted program. Second
graders will take this test given by their teachers in their classrooms. Fourth
graders will be taking this test online on the days listed above. Please make note
of these dates on your calendar. Students who miss any of the testing sessions
will be scheduled for make-up testing. Help your child have a positive testing
experience by being sure that he or she is present and on time, has had a good
nights sleep, and eats a healthy breakfast.

A Night Under the Stars

First Grade Astronomers will host A Night Under
the Stars for all 4th grade students featuring the
Midlands Astronomy Club. The event is planned
for October 20 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. on the DFES
Sports Field. We will have high power telescopes and iPads for star
gazing. Bring your blankets and join us for a fun filled night under the
stars!
