THAT WE SHOULD CENSOR THE INTERNET

Well, Good Morning everyone.
Nowdays, we know that all people argue about that we should censor the internet. What case
here? Ladies and gentlemen, today, its admitted that the amount of internet users becomes more and
more popular. To compare with 10 years ago, its an amazing difference. Internet can be used by 6
year-old children, by adults, or even though by 80 year-old people. The internet has changed society in
very important ways. We can get information on just about any topic you can imagine at the touch of a
button. We can communicate with people all around the world. However, it's not all good. The internet
can be very dangerous too, and governments should censor it.
Now, before we start our major points of analysis, I will give you clarity to the running of the
debate by providing a view of definition. The internet is a global system of interconnected computer
networks that use the standard Internet protocol suite (TCP/IP) to serve several billion users
worldwide. Meanwhile, internet censorship is the control or suppression of what can be accessed,
published, or viewed on the internet.
In Indonesia, the government should censor the internet, and we limit our motion today that
this should censor the internet of
Today, Im Tiara as 1st speaker, I will be talking about all major points and evidence.
Mega, as 2nd speaker, will be talking about rebuttal, recap 1st speaker, and arguments.
Innaka, as 3rd speaker, will rebut and sum up our team case.
So, Im as 1st speaker of positive side the house absolutely agree with the motion today that we
should censor the internet. Why?

ARGUMENT
I would like to my speech into 7 major points. My 1st point, and next.., is that:
1) We need to protect the children.
Children need protection. Their parents will not be always sitting by them to make sure they are
safe while using the Internet . Of course not all children are bad, but even in some game
websites there are some links which will lead you to some immoral and inappropriate websites,
so blocking these kinds of web sites will make your children safe and let you relax.
2) Protect our next generation
And some people playing game online, it can make people/teenagers feel lazy because they
addicting with the internet games and also make they score will bad in school or their future
bad. Because nowadays many porn sites or gambling sites can make teenagers feel addict and it
must be censor. At least government censored the porn sites or websites, which will make lead
you to some immoral and inappropriate websites.
3) Cause damage of value.

Now, most of the teenagers, and even young children can be damaged due to moral boost
internet access too.
4) To maintain traditional social values.
Because in order to bring his own name as well as nor our own nation.
5) For social security.
Because in order to avoid a criminal case which harm our own nor the country.
6) Its dangerous.
Because criminals use the internet to trick people. The internet is used by terrorists. You can
learn good things on the internet, but you can learn bad things too for example, how to make a
bomb.
7) It cause get sin although look intentionally nor unintentionally.
On Islam religion, of course its should ban, because just get sin and not functional.

EVIDENCE
1. Filtering based on origin. Certain news groups such as the alt.binaries.pictures.erotica set are
dedicated to sexual material. By blocking these well-known sites you can keep your children
from seeing the vast majority of sexual discussion. Surf Watch is an example of an existing
product that contains a set of sites where access is denied; you can add your own list of sites to
it.
2. The simplest solution to this problem is a minor change to the domain naming system which
will make adult oriented sites easily identified and restricted from viewing by underage
individuals. An ideal solution in this case would be one that effectively limits children's access
to such content, is easy and efficient to enforce, and requires little adjustment by the Internet
using community.
3. Parents should do what ever they think necessary theres lots of software to block offensive sites
but there should be no government coercion or censorship. The First Amendment prevents the
government from imposing, or from coercing industry into imposing, a mandatory Internet
ratings scheme. Libraries are free speech zones. The First Amendment prevents the
government, including public libraries, from mandating the use of user-based blocking
software.
4. Guidance and discussion. This is ultimately the least coercive and most positive approach. Just
as you caution children in how to act when they go out in public, you can talk to them about
what's online and help them protect themselves. It is also felt that morals and ethics should be
taught in the home because children are exposed to all sorts of material.
5. There are cases where people ( who feared the children ) accidentally get into porn sites . The
solution to this is to provide a proxy that is free of pornography and violence . So nature is

optional or preferred. Well, the government could fund the initiative or project free proxy
pornography . For those who want this , just set the proxy to the service .
6. Indonesian government also has imposed a very strict control of the internet content through
the application of Information and Electronic Transaction Law (Law no. 11 of 2008).
7. The sensor bodies also exist several levels, such as from your ISP (internet provider) alone or
ISP to cooperate with organizations such as Nawala. As in the Blackberry browser and some
mobile internet censorship Nawala. For Nawala, itself as has been often reported is the
organization that provides free DNS service that is used by end users or internet service
provider to get clean and safe internet access.

copyrighted material. If a site fails to censor such material, some of the biggest corporations in
the country could go to the Justice Department and get whole sites shut down.

Therefore, why we as affirmative team absolutely agree with the motion that we should censor
the internet.

good, but sometimes there is too much freedom. It is the governments responsibility to protect us all
from people who use the internet to do evil things.
