Dr. Opiyo Ododa, Our purpose in doing this is for people to enjoy
peace dividends after AMISOM recovered Belet Wayne. We are
looking forward to seeing this facility being used by communities to
be able to improve health care. We are giving this facility to the
womens group and local government and have particularly
requested central government to be able to provide them
medication kits and personnel to work in this facility. What we are
providing today is part of the broader projects we undertaking in
Somalia. We have had projects in Kismayo, Baidoa; now here Belet
Wayne and are also looking at Galgadud.

SCRIPT
The African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) has handed over a
mother-child health facility in Belet Wayne, aimed at improving
access to health services for the most vulnerable members of the
community. The facility includes an out-patient wing, a delivery
room, storage rooms as well as doctors offices. This is part of the
broader effort undertaken by the missions Stabilization and Early
Recovery working group, aimed at improving the lives of the Somali
people, through various project undertaken.
Speaking during the ceremony, Haweya Dhisow, head of the
mother-child health facility said this would impact greatly on the
community.
This facility has been set up to cater for the needs of the women,
the women who did not have access to safe delivery. This health
facility will also cater for children with different ailments, including
malnutrition. Every village in Belet Wayne will benefit, she said.
Bashir Dhore, the Deputy District Commissioner Beley Wayne
added, Today we took part in the launch of this health facility. As a
district, we never forget the good work AMISOM has done for us.
AMISOM has helped vulnerable people including women and
children. This facility is part of the much needed infrastructure in
Belet Wayne.

that the facility will have a positive impact on the lives of the
people.
