Write the formula for tangential & angular velocity? 4. Write the two formulas for shear stress? 5. Draw velocity & shear stress distribution diagram? 6. Write formula for Bulk modulus & compressibility? 7. Write three different formula for capillarity? 8. Write three different formula for gauge pressure of fluid? 9. Write the formula for absolute pressure? 10. Write the formula for shear force in simple disc & conical bearing? PART B (3X10= 30) 11. (a) Two large inclined parallel planes are kept 8 mm apart and are (10) filled with oil. The parallel planes are inclined at 30 to the horizontal. A small thin square plate of 75 mm side slides freely down parallel and midway between the inclined planes with a constant velocity of 2.5 m/s due to its own weight of 1.5N. Determine the viscosity of oil? (OR) (b) The velocity distribution of water in a 10cm radius pipe is given (10) 2 by the expression u=20 (1 (r / 100)) cm/s , where r- radius of the pipe in cm. Calculate and draw the velocity and shear stress distribution over a cross section. Calculate drag force for per km length of pipe. Take =0.02 for water? 12.

In a closed end single tube manometer the height of mercury
above the mercury well shows 761 mm against atm pressure. The ID of the tube is 3.5 mm. The contact angle is 145. Determine the actual height representing the atm pressure, if the surface tension is 0.50 N/m. The space above the column may be considered as vacuum? (ii) A U tube manometer is made of two capillaries of diameter 1.2 mm & 1.6 mm respectively. The tube is kept vertically filled with water of surface tension 0.073N/m & Zero contact angle. Calculate the difference in the levels of menisci caused by capillarity? (OR) (b) Water flows through a pipe AB of diameter 50 mm ,which is in series with the pipe BC of diameter 75 mm in which the velocity 2 m/s. At C the pipe forks and one branch CD is of unknown diameter such that the velocity is 1.5 m/s. The other branch CE is of diameter 25 mm and condition are such that the discharge in the pipe BC divides so that the discharge in the pipe CD is

A venturi meter is to be fitted in a pipe of 0.35m diameter where
the pressure head is 8.2m of flowing liquid and the maximum flow is 0.3m3/s. Find the least diameter of the throat to ensure the pressure head does not become negative .Take Cd = 0.96. (OR) Water flows in a 400 mm diameter pipe. Two pitot tubes are installed in the pipe, One on the centre line and the other is 100 mm from the centerline .If the velocities at the two points are 3.8m/s & 2.4m/s respectively, calculate the reading on the differential mercury manometer connected to two tubes? ----------------------------------------------
