PEPTALK
BHAVANA PULLURU (CSE 4/4)

Its not what you achieve,

its what you overcome.
Thats what defines your
career. -Carlton Frisk

ourth year standing on

the last step of success,
reaching out to new
heights. Fond memories are
evoked, and are followed by
fresh emotions and thoughts.
And then the question
arises..."What if I had
someone to guide me
through all this, someone
who had already gone
through the ups and downs of
exams and assignments, and
faced the battle with the
toughest
of
subjects?"
In this column, we bring to
you the interviews of some
fourth year students of our
college, who bring to us their
valuable
advice
and
suggestions on how to make
the best of our time here.
Reading these words will
inspire you, but it doesn't just
stop at that. It will make you
want to step into their shoes,
and will tell you that you are
not alone in your journey.
And most importantly, it will
give you the confidence, that
if they could do it, so can you.

From my first day in GNITS, every situation I've faced has

transformed me into a more thoughtful and responsible
person. I am the class representative since 1st year which
has made me alert and has taught me how to tackle the
toughest of situations in a better way. Personality
development is a priority in my life, and I am glad to be a
member of persona for this reason. My best moment was
when I was elected as PUBLIC RELATION OFFICER in my
3rd year where I could help people recognize themselves
which gave me immense satisfaction. I also worked as the ISTE chapter treasurer in
2014-2015. Organizing various events in our college boosted my self-confidence
and I have received the Student membership certification from Lead India national
club. The CSE department with its regular technical events made me strong with
technical skills which helped me when I presented a paper on "JVM based cloud
computing for android" at IGNIUM 2014, designed a static website titled
"Scripting Languages" and developed AKSHARAABHYAAS- an android App under
CSE Mini project aimed for children with autism. I received the 1st prize in
TECHNOCARNIVAL 2K15- 4th National level student tech-cultural fest. My family,
my Alma mater and all my mentors have always been supportive throughout my
life. Although I aspire to be an IAS officer with an intention to serve my nation,
right now I am dreaming about being an entrepreneur, and create employment
opportunities for intelligent people with innovative thoughts. I would like to advise
all my juniors to work on their tasks in such a way that they leave an impression
behind them. Also I would urge people to step forward and assist others when they
need help, because the good you do is never left unacknowledged.

DEVALLA SAI ANUHYA (ECE 4/4)

It had not taken me too long to get settled in the congenial atmosphere after I got
admitted into GNITS, as I got elected to represent my class.
Also, I volunteered for the College Cultural Fest-ALACRITY12
in my first year. In the following two years, I got elected as the
Vice-President and President to SAMSKRUTHI, the Cultural
Club of GNITS. By giving me a chance to host the Annual Day
Celebrations, my college yet again let me contemplate my
creative and prompt side. On the academic front, I have
scored an aggregate of 88%. In my third year, I presented a
poster on RADIO WAVES AND THEIR PROPAGATION, which I learnt in a subject
related to Communications during the same semester. I have developed an FM
TRANSMITTER as a part of my mini-project. During my second year, I presented a
paper on FACIAL RECOGNITION in an event under IETE which has propelled me
to choose DIGITAL IMAGE PROCESSING as my elective subject for the current
academic year. To sum it all, GNITS taught me that the full use of today is the only
best preparation for tomorrow. I draw my inspiration from my parents. You can
plan your work, not life. Always be ready to face unplanned events while believing
your strengths and trusting God completely, is what I learnt from them. If I were
to give GNITS a distinguishing name, then I would call it The House of
Opportunities. The more you research this pool and implicate yourself, the better
a person you transform into or at least be guided for the same, by the efficient
faculty members. Thus, I advise my juniors to be interactive and participative. Stay
on a constant alert to realize your innate skill and curiously strive to improve your

abilities by making worthy usage of
resources provided.

strong in basics and start practicing aptitude from 1st year as these two things will
fetch you a job in a reputed MNC. Maintaining academics along with co-curricular
activities should be done by proper utilization of time.

Being in this college gives a student
the
opportunity
to
explore
themselves and improve. Being in
GNITS itself is a matter of pride for
any student, just as it is for me. I've

I've also been the Vice President for

for
2
consecutive years .I got selected as a
delegate for Hyderabad Youth
Assembly out of 5000 students who
competed for it. I've been an active
organizer in many events conducted
in our college. One such event is
Hackathon which is a coding contest.
I worked as a Robo Geek for IIT
Bombay .It feels so good that I've
been in a college that helped me in
overall development, which includes
academics. I was awarded merit
prize for Paper Presentation in
JNTUH and CBIT. I secured 1st prize
in C-Debugging and a Consolation
Prize for Paper Presentation at VNR
College. I also got 2nd prize in
Aptitude and stood 1st for Poster
presentation in GNITS. My goal is to
work in a good MNC, to be specific it
is GOOGLE in Washington DC
(Headquarters) and after gaining
experience I want to become a
Woman Entrepreneur. Being an
Engineer doesn't mean only getting
good grades; we must also have
overall development and industrial
exposure. It is always important to
have a determined goal and work for
it with a focused approach. Try to be

Salimadugu Sirija Reddy (ETM 4/4)

GNITS played the most essential part in my budding career where I could discover
myself and realize my capabilities. I am the placement coordinator for the ETM
department. I have also worked with the Lead India
committee in my 1st year and volunteered for IGNIUM,
our college's technical fest. I am the academic Topper of
the ETM department from the past 3 years and have
participated in the Telestorm events conducted by our
department. I have given paper presentations under the
ISTE chapter on "Paper Battery" in 2015 and on "Charge
from water droplets" at Osmania University and even a project presentation on
"Mobile work" at IGNIUM 2013, where I won the 1st prize. I draw inspiration from
my mother who was determined to complete her studies though she got married
at a young age. Her true dedication towards education has made her a successful
woman now and I am proud to be her daughter. I always dream to work with that
determination that she has shown, and I will definitely become a successful person
with her ideologies. All I would say to my juniors is that it is easy to manage extracurricular activities with academics, so never rely on your academics only. Try
acquiring knowledge about other activities also and prioritize your interests so that
you can work on every aspect of academics and other events equally.

LINSIFA SHAIK (EEE 4/4)

I feel really blessed to be a part of GNITS because GNITS has given me every
opportunity that made me unique and helped me choose the best path to reach
my goals. I was the NSS coordinator since first year and have
won the BEST NSS VOLUNTEER AWARD for the year 2015
from college NSS unit. I was elected as director for CLUB
SERVICE for ROTARY CLUB OF GNITS.I am presently working
on a project "underground cables fault distance location". I
love doing service and I am inspired by MOTHER TERESA.MY
family is my backbone; they are with me in every step of my
life. Whatever I do, I want to do it with satisfaction, because
only then the output will be perfect. I want to see myself as a
civil servant. GNITS has shown me the path to reach my goal
and the entire faculty has helped me very patiently
whenever I approached them. One thing I would like to
suggest to my juniors is Grab every single opportunity you get since the first year.
GNITS is always there to provide wings to you to reach greater heights with flying
colors. All you need to do is start flying and spread colors! GNITS organizes many
technical forums that help you grow technically. Please take the initiative, and our
college will always support you. The smile on my face at this moment is the result
of my deeds. So, work every single second to be HAPPY, because life is all about
being joyful and at peace with your inner self.

with financial assistance provided by MHRD and other government agencies.
GATE scores are also being used by several Indian public sector undertakings
(i.e., government-owned companies) for recruiting graduate engineers in
entry-level positions. At present, GATE is conducted in 22 disciplines. Each
subject's test contains 10 questions that test the "general aptitude" (language
and analytic skills), apart from the core subject of the discipline .The GATE
score is valid for a period of 3 years. It is usually conducted in February every
year .Its fee is Rs.1500 for general students. On an average, a post graduate
program lasts for 2 years.

GRE:

The Graduate Management Admission Test assesses analytical writing and

problem-solving abilities, while also addressing data sufficiency, logic, and
critical reasoning skills that it believes to be vital to real-world business and
management success .The GMAT exam consists of four sections: An analytical
writing assessment, integrated reasoning, the quantitative section, and the
verbal section. The GMAT may not be taken more than once within 31 days, all
applicants are required to carry their passports to the examination hall
without which he or she will not be allowed to take the GMAT exam. It is valid
for 5 years. GMAT score is accepted by many business schools and universities
around the world. The whole course takes 2 years for completion.

Graduate Record Examination

time and that are not related to
any specific field of study. This
exam is conducted in more than
160 countries which has around
700 test centres. The computer
based test can be undertaken
multiple times depending on the
availability of test centres. The
pen paper based test is conducted
only when the computerised test
cannot be conducted. It can be
taken 3 times year in October,
November and February. The
validity of the score is for 5 years.
The Fee costs US $195.The exam
contains verbal, quantitative,

December. This program is usually completed in 3 years.
IES:
The Indian Engineering Services (IES) are the civil services that meet the
technical functions of the Government of India. Like most countries, the
Government of India recruits its civil servants and officials on the basis of
merit, the middle management positions in the bureaucracy are filled through
competitive exams such as the Civil Service Examination, Indian Forest
Service examination, Indian Engineering Service examination(ESE) and several
others. This exam can be taken till one reaches 30 years of age. It is free of
cost for female students. There are objective as well as conventional
(descriptive) papers. One paper for GA (General Ability) is part of the

CLIFFHANGERA SHORT STORY

THE WITTY PLAN
Looking
up
at
the
dilapidated bungalow, she
began to question her belief of
fate and destiny. What could
have been the reason for the
sudden appearance of the
letter, written by her husband
years before he died, declaring
his last wish to have this house
taken good care of in his
memory? It was purely strange,
because she didnt remember
him showing any special
preference to this property in
his lifetime, which was clearly
explained by the degraded
condition of the house.
Then why now? She had yet
to answer this question, even
after so many days. Especially
after the rumors of ghosts
haunting the building, she
wasnt sure if she would spend
her last days in peace in this
place, or would be forced to
move away even earlier
.Sighing, she clutched her
walking stick and slowly began
to make her way towards the
door. Her young nephew,
Arthur, was at her side in no
time, gently holding her hand
and helping her take the wobbly
steps that she could barely
manage at this age. He had
been the one to find the letter;
out of his love for her, he had
asked her to come and live here
near his house, so that he could
spend time with her, and
assisted her in getting the house
repaired.
Patiently, he walked her
into the house and made sure
she was comfortably settled on
the couch, before wishing her
goodnight and starting to return
to his house in the next lane.
Like every day, he asked her if

to scream, she felt her life

slipping away from her.
he should stay for the night,
which she politely refused as
usual, because she didnt want
to keep him away from his wife
and children. He gave her a
warm smile and asked her to
take care of herself, and finally
left.
After he left, she opened
her battered copy of the Bible
that was almost as old as she
was, and proceeded to read
from the page she had stopped
previously. As she reached for
her spectacles on the table, a
newspaper cutting fell out of
the book, which she picked up
and studied. The article talked
about the death of a handsome
boy with a youthful face, who
she pitied immediately for his
untimely death.
However, as she
finished reading the article, her
pity turned into fear, because
the boy had died right here!
Under the very roof that she
was residing! Trying to calm her
nerves, she drank a glass of
water and searched for her
medicine which would keep her
pounding pulse in control
.Hearing a sound, she slowly
turned around to face the
direction in which it came from.
And as she turned, she couldnt
believe what her eyes were
seeing. surely a hallucination?
What else could explain the
figure of the boy standing in
front of her, the one that she
had found to be dead just a few
moments ago? The boy grinned
at her, a wicked smile that
made her shiver, and took a
step towards her. She felt a
heart seizure take its toll on her
, and as she desperately tried

Cheers! He clunked
his glass clumsily with his
friend. Didnt I tell you
the old bat would easily
fall for the trap? All I did
was enter her house
through the window and
stand behind her, and she
thought I was a ghost
because she saw the fake
clipping of my supposed
death, that you put in her
book! Arthur smirked at
his friends words,
thinking about how they
had cleverly slipped the
papers between docu ments
that she had to sign and
tricked his poor old aunt
into passing on the entire
property to him through
her will.
And now no one will
suspect us, and we can share
the property among ourselves!
his friend was chattering away
happily, all the while finishing
his glass of wine and refilling it
again. Why arent you drinking
Arthur?
he
questioned,
noticing the untouched glass. At
this point, Arthur looked up at
his friend and smiled, and began
to mentally calculate the time it
would take for his friend to pass
out.and never wake up
again. Oh, what an interesting
story it would be, the suicide of
such a young boy!

THOUGHTS
ADVERSITY!
When life seems to handing
you lemons, make lemonade!!It
seems that the majority folks
take adversity as an indication
that they are landing in a wrong
direction or that somebody up
there doesn't prioritise them.
This is a direct cause-and-effect
approach that can prohibit us in
our very own tracks and leave
us sitting there for days,
months, years or a lifetime!
People take adversity as an
optimistic
approach
to
strengthen their resolve to
continue while others find it as
an opportunity to ponder for
alternatives. Adversity could
well be defined by a Churchill's
quote, Kites rise highest
against the wind- not with it.
When you raise your kite, keep
it flying. Play with the idea of
seeing change or difficulties as
shifting winds to help your kite
stay up not as a caution bell
that you're flying a wrong one
on the wrong day. This is the
best way to approach life for
even the biggest of our
problems can hardly shed an
impact of our routine.
-Bhargavi Rudra

THOUGHTS BEYOND
THE HORIZON
It's impossible for me to
score a perfect score! If get a
job in placements thats
enough! Is there a limitation
for our thoughts? Can't the
thoughts rise beyond the
horizon? This article explains
about people's limited thoughts
and about their lack of

exploration of the world which

they fail to see. People confine
themselves to what they see;
they are building walls around
themselves with their own
thoughts. They are not realising
the opportunities that the world
was offering them. Thoughts
are to be awakened within
ourselves just like Einstein
opened the world of science by
giving a small thought about an
apple and a tree. Then why
cant we change the thought "I
can't" into "I can" and pretty
soon, you would say "I did"
instead of thinking what you are
missing, try thinking about what
you have in you that everyone
else is missing. Unleash the
true talent of yours.
-CH.Manisha

BEAUTY IS
EVERYWHERE
Have you ever thought
about taking a break from your
diligent, busy and overloaded
life? If not, it is time. And no, I
am not talking about watching
"Friends" with your gang or
hanging out at the mall with
your lot! I am talking about
taking a break and glancing at
the beauty surrounding you.
Watching a sunset or taking a
stroll in the park amidst the
trees is more relaxing than
watching TV. Just give it a try,
beauty is everywhere. You just
need to find it in the little things
around you. Ever heard of the
quote, A poor life this is, if full
of care, there is no time to
stand and stare? Take some
time away from your busy
schedule and spend it this way.
Just take a chance; you will
know what surprises this

beautiful world has in store for

you.

AIMING HIGH
SUCCESS

FOR

With the development in

technology, youngsters are not
ignorant of anything. They are
making their mark in the field of
their interest. One needs to aim
high to transform their dreams
into reality. Self-Belief is the
most important aspect to
accomplish
our
goals.
Success doesnt come easy, so
by merely aiming too high or
having self-belief we cannot
achieve success, it is about
working towards our goals
relentlessly day in day out.
Many great personalities have
emerged from various corners
of our country who have proved
that greatness can be achieved
even in the darkest of times.
Narendra Modi, Satya Nadella,
Sunitha Williams, M.S Dhoni,
etc.; have achieved tremendous
success in their respective
fields. So, its all about
dreaming big and giving it all we
have got and never giving up
until our goal is reached as
"SUCCESS IS A JOURNEY NOT A
DESTINATION".

problem-solving capabilities in
particular. Indian families tend
to put a lot of emphasis on
college degrees as a total of
aspiration and growth. So what
we have is a whole lot of people
with degrees in hand but with
no relevant skills. About 70 % of
engineers do engineering so
that they can work in an IT
company irrelevant of their
stream. Most of them end up in
an IT company because it pays
decent. Students mostly with
unemployed parents enter into
the college only with an aim of
earning money but not to learn
technical skills. And also there
are not enough jobs being
created to keep pace with the
staggering number of graduates
looking for work. Welcome to
India, a place where thousands
of dreams die every year for the
sake of term EXPECTATION.

HAPPINESS IN LIFE!
It seems as though people are
always trying to achieve total
happiness in life. Some factors
that are associated with
happiness are health, family,
friends, money, and love.
Mistakes and let downs are
supposed to cause people to be
upset, and therefore not happy.
I agree with those factors and I
am also trying to achieve
happiness, but use my mistakes
as happiness builders. I believe
that if I live my life every day to
the fullest, I am happy. What I
mean by using my mistakes as
potential happiness builders is
that when something goes
wrong in my life, it makes me
appreciate the good things. If
everything was perfect and I
was always 100% happy, would
I truly be happy? I could not

possibly be as happy as I am if
my life was perfect. Of course,
just like everybody else, my life
is not perfect but I am
extremely happy with the life I
have lived so far and I love to
experience everyday with the
best possible attitude.

HOBBY AS A REMEDY
How often didn't we think 'I
really need to take up a Hobby'
or 'I wish I had continued that
Dance/Music/Art course I was
taking in School? People, these
days, regardless of their age, are
taking their interests in a few
activities seriously and are
building their strength in it by
pursuing them, because that is
what 'Having a Hobby' is all
about, and serves as one of the
best remedies for stress and
tension. It is scientifically
proven to lower Stress levels,
Blood Pressure, chances of
Alzheimer's, and profoundly
increase focus, concentration
and Self-esteem. Now, what
better way to stay healthy by
having fun? So, recognise your
interests, pursue a Hobby, and
stay healthy, and who knows,
you may even master it!

THE MIND IS NOT A

VESSEL
TO
BE
FILLED, BUT A FIRE
TO BE KINDLED!
Plutarch
This quote does not have a
single meaning, but several. Let
alone the literal meaning, it's
much deeper than that. We
might have come across the
quote, An Idle mind is a devil's
workshop. Our mind is just like

a new page. It's up to us to fill in

what we like, good, bad or
worst. But when we fill our
mind
with
desire
and
determination, it kindles the fire
in us to stay focused and work
harder for achieving something
big! One should really use it,
invigorate it and fill it with a
feeling to excel, be kind and do
all good things in life. Unless
we kindle what is inside, it will
lie dormant. The feeling when
we achieve something which we
have worked hard for cannot be
brought with money!! One way
to get close to things you love is
turn on the ignition, stay
focused and you shall drive safe
to your destination in time!
-Akshitha Reddy M.

TRY AGAIN!
Whenever you fail,
Courage should prevail!!
Dont lose heart
Try again with a better
start!!
Keep up the spirit and do
the task,
Time will surely bring your
reward!!
Patience, strong will and
courage,
Will help you to win the
race,
Try again and again my
friend.
Never be downcast!!
Do it with a stronger will,
You will win at last!!!
