Thank you for downloading this ESA HD Media Player v.1.7.

1 - Flash CS4/AS3 - Defa

ult Skin
----------------------------------------------------------------Description of files:
XML - text file (i.e. flat file database) that is used to load multiple media fi
les at run-time
SWF - published Flash 10 movie file that is ready for immediate use on a website
FLA - Flash document that can be opened and modified using Flash CS4
AS - action script source code files that can be used to modify the media playe
r components (located in the /source/ folder of the Flash Pro package; not inclu
ded in Demo or Developer packages).
MXP - Macromedia Extension Package that can be installed into your Flash CS4 com
ponent menu
HTML - example web page that shows how the HD Media Player component should be e
mbedded in a webpage using standard Object and Embed tags
This package includes 1 example layout in FLA and SWF format:
default.fla & default.swf - default size = 640x390 pixels; can be resize
d in the html (see #2 below)
----------------------------------------------------------------Basic Use of HD Media Player files:
1. Upload the following example files and folders to the same location on your w
eb server and navigate to that location using a web browser:
default.swf
index.html
media.xml
/images/ folder
2. Once the HD Media Player is up and running, you can alter the size of the pla
yer using the width and height attributes in the html embed code. Set the width
equal to your desired media width in pixels. Set the height equal to your desire
d media height in pixels plus the height of the controls (default controller hei
ght is 30 pixels). For example, if you want to play videos at 320 x 240, then yo
u would set the "width=320" and "height=270"). The minimum width for the default
skin is 320 pixels.
3. Edit the "media.xml" file to begin playing your own content, and to change th
e playback behaviors (e.g. autoplay, looping, random, link target, bandwidth tes
t, etc.). See the online documentation for a complete description of the XML str
ucture (containers, attributes, and nodes).
4. Edit the "media" FlashVars in the "index.html" file to load a different XML o
r single audio/video file. See the online documentation for a complete descripti
on of the available FlashVars.
----------------------------------------------------------------Advanced Use of the HD Media Player files (Flash CS4 Required):
a. Open the FLA to change the layout, colors, and component properties, then pub
lish a new SWF. Please note: if you have altered the layout of the player on the
stage you will also need to modify a small amount of script in the actions pane
l (look for the "arrangeItemsOnStage" function), which is used to arrange the it
ems on the stage when the player loads on the page and enters/exits fullscreen (

i.e. you will need to modify the existing coordinates and dimensions so they ref
lect the changes you have made on the stage). See the online documentation for a
detailed description of all the player properties that can be set in the Compon
ent Inspector, and to learn about the advanced customization options available t
hrough the API.
b. Install the MXP to add the HD Media Player components to your Flash CS4 Compo
nent Menu, which makes them easier to access for custom projects, and enables yo
u to update existing players with the latest components. See the online document
ation for more information about installing the MXP and updating components in e
xisting projects.
