Help Keep Crime off the Katy Trail

Dear Friends, Neighbors and Katy Trail Supporters:

As you may know by now, a developer has filed to open an outdoor bar/restaurant on the Katy
Trail at intersection of the Katy Trail and Fitzhugh. Like the Ice House, the bar will play music
and serve alcohol outdoors until 2 AM.
Like you, we are concerned that this bar will move crime, drugs, litter and noise to the Katy
Trail. We have good reason to worry. Violent crime in our area has increased 65% over the past
year, compared to only 5% in City of Dallas overall. In the FitzKaty area such crimes have tended
to cluster around the late night bars on Fitzhugh Ave; less than a block away from the proposed
bar on the Katy Trail.
Now is a critical time in our effort to keep the Katy Trail and our neighborhood safe and clean.
Only one major hurdle stands in the way for the bar developer from doing business on the Katy
Trail - the need for an alcohol permit from the TABC (Texas Alcohol and Beverage Commission).
We need your help NOW to keep our community safe. Please:

your friends and neighbors who want to keep the Katy Trail and our neighborhood safe
and clean. Please ask them to forward it to others as well. Our loud support of this
effort will send a clear message to the Texas alcohol granting authorities (TABC) that our
community strongly opposes a late night outdoor bar on the Katy Trail.
Submit a liquor license protest to TABC before Friday October 16, 2015. Youll find
TABC protest forms & instructions at http://tinyurl.com/ophnksx. Once complete, you
