How to make your

Erasmus life easy at

EFRI Rijeka
Short presentation of the first steps

Welcome note
Dear Erasmus student,
Hi and welcome to EFRI Rijeka! Im your Erasmus virtual friend and I am
here to make your life easier. Enclosed youll be presented the first steps
you should follow after your arrival.
Before getting into details, one piece of advice: study during the
semester (not only for the finals, might get you in trouble) and get to
know the lovely Croatian colleagues around you (after all, Erasmus is
about getting to know other cultures, people and countries).
Enjoy your stay!
PS: Over the years, Erasmus might turn to be one of your best life
experiences. Make it worth it.

Step 1: OIB Number

What is the OIB Number?
-Its

a registration paper (personal identification number) that you

receive from the Tax Administration Office in Rijeka as a proof that you
legally entered Croatia and temporarily live here
How to obtain it:
-Take

your Erasmus documents from your home university with you

to the EFRI Erasmus office and contact Mr. Marko Donadi (1st floor,
room 25). He will provide you with all the papers you need to fill in and
with further assistance in presenting the next steps

-Go

-Take

your Erasmus buddy with you (or a phone with GPS) as from the
university to will have to move around the town for the registration
process, so some orientation guidance might come in hand

Step 2: Student registration

office
Once you got your OIB number from the Tax Administration Office, get
back to the Registration Office at EFRI, ground floor and contact Mr.
Vlado Trnini.
What will you get at the Student Registration office?
-First,

youll register as an active student of the faculty

-Second,

youll get the admission paper with the subjects youll study
(Upisni List) which you have to take then to Mr. Donadi on 1st floor,
room 25 to be added to your study file
-Youll

also be taken the picture for the Student card (X-card) which
basically is used to get all the discounts around town (including public
transportation discount or food discount at the student canteen, Index)
-It

usually takes one or mostly two weeks until you get your final Xcard.
Until then, you are entitled to a temporary Xcard. Kindly ask for it and
remember to return it once you get the final one done.

Step 2: Student registration

office
-

You will receive your Merlin username and password. Getting a

second password has to be paid, so make sure you will not lose the
original one. For further information about Merlin, please see next
slide.

You will receive your STUDOMAT username and password as well.

Keep them safe. For further information about STUDOMAT, please see
next slide.

You will receive the student status documents: one needed for the
residence and one for the discounted bus card.

The faculty offers free Wi-fi around the building, so you can ask at the
Registration office about this. Usually, a special program has to be
installed on your phone and laptop in order to have access to the Wi-fi
network. Ask about this. The network is also available and free of
charge at the student canteen.

Step 3: Get familiar with

Merlin and STUDOMAT
What is Merlin?
-Merlin

is the virtual portal of EFRI where you can find all the information
needed for the subjects you study (courses description, literature for
tests / presentations/ projects etc, the exam dates, grades, additional
information from your teachers).
-Log

in here: http://moodle.srce.hr/2015-2016/

What is STUDOMAT?
-STUDOMAT

is the virtual platform where you have to register for taking

the exams. Registration is mandatory.
-On

the portal, you can access the full list of the exam dates and apply
for the date suitable to you.
-Keep

in mind that the latest registration date for an exam is minimum 5

days before the exam date!
-Log

in here: https://www.isvu.hr/studomat/prijava.

Step 4: Registering at
the Police
First thing you have to know is that registration at the police in Croatia is a
serious deal which you shouldnt postpone. Postponing it might get you a
fine of 600 kuna, so advice is to take the matter seriously.
Necessary documents for registering at the police:
-All

Erasmus documents (including the document that mentions your

Erasmus scholarship. You have to prove that you can finance your stay
here)
-The

OIB paper from the Tax Administration

-The

student status document received from the university

-Rental

documents: The rental contract from your landlord + the proof that
he/ she is the actual owner of the flat + a copy of his/ her ID

-250

kuna (state fee for getting the temporary Croatian ID card)

Step 4: Registering at
the Police
Your landlord should personally come with you at the police station
and sign the documents of agreement regarding your address. If all
documents are in order, you will receive your Croatian ID card within
14 days after the registration.

! In case you change your address, make sure to inform the Police
about your new address in maximum 7 days after moving. The new
rental documents are needed. In case you are not registered with
your active address, you can be subject of a 600 kuna fine !

Were done!
I have introduced you to the main steps you should take at your arrival
at EFRI Rijeka. My mission here is complete. For further details, please
consult the mobility manual provided by Mr. Cvei.
Any changes during the semester / university year, additional
information about scores needed to pass the exams, changes within
the schedule or any other details you will find out during your stay
here.
Ask your teachers, talk to your colleagues, get social and enjoy.
All the best.

Yours truly,
