First Quarter Good Citizens

Rock Port High School Organization Updates

By Montana Martin
As the second quarter of the
2015-2016 school year gets
started, activities in student organizations are well underway.
FBLA officers for the 20152016 school year are Kaleigh
Farmer, President, Jade Lemmon, Vice President, Dayle Davis, Secretary, Melanie Wilson,
Student Council Representative, and Journi Burke, Treasurer. FBLA ended the 2014-2015
school year with 20 members.
This year the organization recruited 23 new members, bringing the organization total to 39
members, almost doubling from
last year!
On Friday October 9, FBLA
hosted a lock-in for members at
the school from 9:30 p.m.- 7:00
a.m. Students participated in a
variety of crafts, board games,
and other activities throughout
the night. Twenty-three members attended, and the officers
plan to hold another lock-in
next year. Upcoming activities
include Adopt a Family/Operation Christmas Child, the chapter Christmas party, and performance events for contests held
in Maryville towards the end of
February.
FCCLA officers for the 20152016 school year are Chloe
Sierks, President, Jade Lemmon, Vice President of Committees, Kaleigh Farmer, Vice
President of STAR Events,
Hannah Miller, Student Council
Representative and Parliamentarian, Journi Burke, Historian,
Paityn Alberti, Reporter, and
Dayle Davis, Treasurer and
Secretary. FCCLA ended the
2014-2015 school year with 41
members. This year, the organization has 31 members.
RPHS FCCLA has recently
offered many activities for
members. Students went to the
nursing home to paint pumpkins with residents, held a cake
walk at Old Fashioned Saturday
Night, and auctioned off a basket filled with various goodies
at the Pink Out Volleyball game
to help raise money for Emily
Zech, who is battling cancer.
The organization also sold pink
necklaces, megaphones, and
breast cancer tattoos in honor
of Emily. On Wednesday, October 7, 22 members traveled
to Maryville to attend the Regional Meeting, which updates
all regional organizations on
events throughout the year.
