Pastor John Davis

Pastor Mike Weider

Welcome!
We extend a special welcome to our guests, visitors and all who join us in worship today. Please let us know of your presence or
any prayer requests you have by filling out one of the cards in the pew rack and placing them in the offering plate. We hope that
our church home becomes your church home and the spiritual place where you grow through the
Word of God.
Nursery care for children up to three years old is located on the main floor of the Welcome Center across from the library. Older
children attending the church service are encouraged to borrow a Toddler Tote filled with activities as you enter the Sanctuary.
Concerning the Sacrament of the Altar
We believe that Jesus offers Himself to us in the Sacrament His true body and blood, for the forgiveness of sins. We also share
the scriptural concern for those who participate in the Lords supper that they recognize what they are receiving
(1 Corinthians 11:27). Therefore, we ask that all who desire to receive the Lords Supper please carefully examine themselves
using the communion information card found in the pew rack.
Communion is celebrated on the 1st and 3rd Sundays at both services.
For those who desire, we offer gluten-free wafers (please indicate your desire to the Pastor or Elder) and
non-alcoholic wine (located in the rose colored cups in the center of the individual cup tray).
TODAY WE WELCOME BACK TO MLC PASTOR KEN CHITWOOD WHOM MANY OF YOU KNOW THROUGH HIS VICARAGE HERE AT
MEMORIAL. PASTOR KEN IS CURRENTLY A RELIGION SCHOLAR AND PHD STUDENT AT THE UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA.

CONFESSION / FORGIVENESS OF SINS

C: Almighty God, we are sorry for our sin. We have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done
and by what we have left undone. We justly deserve Your present and eternal punishment. For the sake of Your Son,
Jesus Christ, who suffered and died in our place, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may live
without fear of the wages of our sin, even the fear of death. By your grace, increase our faith, trusting that You, the God of
Jacob are and always will be our fortress.
P: Friends in Christ, hear God speak to you: Be still, and know that I am God. (Psalm 46:10) Gods greatest desire is for you
to be in His presence. Through Jesus, He has made that possible. Christ, who through His death and resurrection overcame sin
and the grave, has enteredinto heaven itself, now to appear in presence of God on our behalfhaving been offered once to bear
the sins of many. (Hebrews 9:24, 28) As a called and ordained servant of Christ, and by His authority, I therefore forgive you all
your sins in the name of the Father and of the T Son and of the Holy Spirit.
C: Amen. The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.

Ein Feste Burg Ist Unser Gott
In remembrance of our German Lutheran heritage, the beam above the altar testifies of Gods abiding presence (drawing from the
popular hymn of the same title) upon which we can rely throughout our earthly lives.

The Book of Judges - Gods Kingdom Revealed Through Flawed Heroes
It is human nature to want to have larger-than-life heroes - men or women who rise above the fray, and do great things. This is
how we often view Bible heroes, yet reality somewhat differs from our desires, perhaps nowhere is this more evident than in the
book of Judges, a historical compilation of the leaders and rulers of Gods people from the time of the culmination of the conquest
of Canaan until the time of the Kings. Grab a cup of coffee and join Pastor Davis study group.
(Loomis
Center)
The Bible On Trial Beyond A Reasonable Doubt Through this book we examine contributions of biblical analysis, ancient
historical voices, archaeology and the testimony of 1st century fo0llowers of Jesus Christ in its quest to determine the reliability and
accuracy of the Bible's message. Pat Croll, Alan Bishop lead the study.
(Welcome Center - Library)
Gods Word for Today: Nahum, Habakkuk, and Zephaniah tells of the call for God's people to repent of their sins, exercise
justice among the oppressed, and look to the Messiah. Although written against Nineveh, Nahum brings "good news" to believers.
In this evil world of ours, Habakkuk declares that "the righteous will live by...faith." Zephaniah points to the "day of the LORD"
when His people will be saved and the wicked punished. This study led by Tim Gandre and Tony Rylander.
