A Message from the AALU President

Robert Ingram

Dear Alumni, Guests &Honorees,

On behalf of the Alumni Association of Lincoln University, I welcome you to what has becomethe
most elegant affair that any chapter in our organization produces each year. In just 3 short years,
the Baltimore Metropolitan Chapter of the AALU has presented and developed an event that
hits on just about every aspect of the AALUs mission. The Thurgood Marshall Scholarship &
Awards Gala like our mission is about promoting fellowship among the alumni and the chapters,
as well as recruitment and promoting the abundant giving back to our dearalma mater Lincoln
University. Our organization goes back unbroken to its establishment as the oldest association
of any HBCU in 1872. In fact there are only a handful of American Colleges & Universities
with an alumni association older then the AALU.
Traditions and heritage are the lifes blood and soul of a university and its alumni and the
Baltimore Chapter has done exceedingly well in the establishment of what we at National hope
to be a mainstay event for years to come. I would like to personally congratulate the chapter
leadership, the planning committee and all of the members of the Baltimore Chapterfor this
phenomenal event as well as all of the behind the scenes work on behalf of alumni, the university
and the students that you perform selflessly on a daily basis. Your commitmentand leadership
are of the highest order. Last and certainly not the least, I want to extend heartfelt congratulations
to our distinguished honorees, Ja Johannes 64(Posthumously), Dr. William Bennett 50, Edward
Wilson 85, Dorothy Dot; Smallwood 79, Debra Long-Doyle 76 and President & CEO of BGE
Calvin Butler.
Enjoy the evening and fellowship.
Sincerely,
Robert Ingram
President

Lincoln University, Alma Mater

Dear Lincoln, Dear Lincoln
To Thee Well ere be true!
The golden hours weve spent beneath
The dear old Orange and Blue
Will live foreer in memory,
As guiding stars through life;
For thee our Alma Mater dear,
Well rise in our might.
For we love every inch of thy sacred soil
Every tree on thy campus green;
And for thee with our might
We will ever toil
That thou mightest be supreme.
Well raise thy standard to the sky.
Midst glory and honor to fly;
And constant and true,
We will live for thee anew.
Our Dear Old Orange and Blue
Hail! Hail! Lincoln!
