1.1 Australia's automotive industry
The automotive industry is one of Australias key manufacturing sectors and an important
source of employment, and research and development. The increasing exposure of the
Australian automotive industry to international competition has seen it develop to where it is
now competing successfully in global markets.
We have chosen the Automobile Industry and we discuss the technology that we would be
discussing three technologies within the organization which is carsales.com.au.
Car sales is the largest online automotive, motorcycle and marine classifieds business in
Australia; attracting more Australians interested in buying or selling cars, motorcycles, trucks
and boats than any other classified group of websites.
1.2 Description of Each Technologies
Web Application:
A web application is any application that uses a web browser as a client. Web
browsers are software applications that allow users to retrieve data and interact with
content located on web pages within a website.
Mobile and wireless Application:
A mobile application is a software application designed to run on smartphones, tablet
computers and other mobile devices. They are usually available through application
distribution platforms, which are typically operated by the owner of the mobile
operating system, such as the Apple App Store, Google Play, Windows Phone Store,
and Blackberry.
E-commerce Application:
Ecommerce application is a software application that is specifically designed to
support the creation of an ecommerce website or add functionality to it. Typically,
ecommerce applications refers to the wide variety of shopping cart programs that are

available, as well as other software that incorporates payment options as plug-ins or as


part of an entire site application.
1.3 Technologies within the Organisation:
Web application: Car sales enables advertisers to showcase products and services by
providing consumer to relevant, active and in-market across Australias leading
network of automotive, marine and industry websites. The 23 websites in the Car
sales network offer online advertising opportunities to reach over 4 million unique
browsers every month. By using web application Car sales can deliver their marketing
message to the right audience at the right time as well as innovative advertising
solutions to provide reach, targeting and engagement, Web application can help their
business to grow.
Mobile application:
Carsales.com.au is a publicly owned company whose goal is to bring out the best
automotive classified website in Australia Finding a car has been easier with the
launch of mobile application for Apple devices, Android devices and even Google
play featuring searching new and used cars, latest news and reviews, even though
valuing your car. It also has access to special features and competitions simply by
scanning car sales QR codes.
E-commerce application:
Carsales is doing Business in online so they manage their all transition via internet
Carsales.com.au uses e commerce application in order to promote its marketing and online
advertising and also for online transactions for buying car facts reports etc.

2 Business justification for the use of the technologies

Web Application:
The automotive industry consists of four motor vehicle producers which produce large
passenger motor vehicles (PMV) and variants, light commercial vehicles and sports utility
vehicles. There are also over 200 motor vehicle component manufacturers. The four motor
vehicle producers are based in this Industry.

Capture and stringently segment customer data, which can be used for email marketing and
personalized ongoing communications. Gathering the data we need deliver targeted offers, to
qualified prospects that entice consumer to action integrate search technologies, email
marketing and web advertising. Adhere to best practices: No Spam, opt-out capabilities.
Using the data they have gathered to target based on previous buying habits, vehicles already
owned, previous service visits, etc.

[1]Web Applications: Carsales website provide not only a lot information of cars, both brand
new and used, but also other information relate to buying cars, like finance, insurance etc.
The company also owns a lot of similar domains, for example, boatssales.com.au,
bikessales.com.au etc., which is good for its brand.Carsales.com.au has both vertical and
horizontal navigation for visitors. For the car-buyers, the website provides a lot searching
criteria for the new consumers.
The websites auto alert function is also very useful for the car-buyers. They can set criteria
for a search, and the website will send them email when a car meets the criteria. This function
also gives the website an important email list which can be used for marketing purpose in the
future, because visitors need to register to use the auto alert function.Carsales.com did very
well when applying the Advertising-Supported revenue. This Graf is represent the percentage
of the consumer that reach the website daily.

With a number of other online businesses set to release their results in the coming weeks it
may be worth considering how your portfolio is positioned to gain from the continual shift to
the web. There are a number of ways to do this, including the telecom sector, IT services

convenience of bypassing the purchasing stage at a dealership, instead simply arriving
to collect their car and organize aftersales care rather than having to arrange downpayments on-site.

Web Application: the number one website for buying and selling cars, as well as a raft of

websites will be updated to use quicksales.com.au's uploading and listing functionality.

Carsales making a more outcomes using effective communication technology through
web application so in the future there will be a more scope to give toughest
competition to in the market and getting more customer satisfaction that also
automatically improve the business profits.

Mobile Application:

Smart phones have been responsible for several impacts on automotive infotainment. The
first mobile phone and smart phone impact came from hands-free telephone systems
interfaced to head units and connected via Bluetooth. Such Bluetooth systems have now
become very popular and are available either as optional or standard equipment, with the
systems present on 93 percent of model year 2010 models in the United States and 75 percent
