poets?
4. So now we can move on to a poem
written by a romantic poet about Nature.
Link Talk : The teacher gives some clues about
the author and writes the title of the poem To
Nature on the board. The cles are:

The students find out the name of the


author.

1. He is an English poet, literary critic and


philosopher.
2. He is the friend of Wordsworth and is
regarded as one of the founders of the
Romantic movement.
The author Samuel Taylor Coleridge is thus
introduced before the students. The teacher
shows the picture of the author.
Microprocessing of the Input
Model reading by the teacher : The reads the
poem with proper intonation, stress and pause
and also describes the theme of the poem.
Individual Reading : The teacher asks a student
to read aloud the poem. Corrections are made
whereever necessary.
Track reading by the pupil : Students are asked
to read the poem silently and to track their
reading by putting a tick mark to the sentences
which they have understood, to put a question
mark to the part they havent understood, and to
put an exclamatory mark for what they found
interesting or surprising.

The students track their reading according


to their level of comprehension.

Glossary Reference : The students are asked to


refer the glossary and to find out the meaning of
the difficult words.

The students find out the following


words :
Phantasy Extreme form of imagination.
Piety Devotion to God and good works.

Collaborative Learning : Students are asked to


form groups and share their ideas in groups.
They are asked to write down the word in the
personal word list.

Altar Raised platform on which


offerings are made to God.

Megaphoning the doubts : Each group is given


opportunity to raise their doubts to other groups.

The meaning of the word is a rounded roof with
a circular base.
Facilitation by the teacher : Teacher helps to
clarify the difficult areas which no group could
effectively tackle. Teacher also explains the
difficult areas.
Scaffolding questions : To make the content
clear questions are asked to the students. The
students are asked to write down the answers.
