Course Background and Objectives:


Course Objective:
The aim of the course is to provide students an understanding of the triangular relationship
between the market, the state and civil society, and how globalization has affected this
relationship.
The emphasis of the course will be on studying issues pertaining to transformations in Indias
business environment - political, regulatory, social, cultural and natural environment in which
businesses operate. Students would learn the challenges and opportunities of doing business in
India and to analyze and manage the above business environment factors which impact business.
The frameworks and issues discussed are critical to understanding how firms can be both
financially successful and valuable to society, a concern which is increasingly influencing
managerial decision-making.

Intended Learning Outcomes (ILO):


1. Familiarity with the interplay between Government, Business and Society
2. Develop students understanding of social responsibilities in business context.
3. Ethics and value orientation in a business and societal context.
4. Ability to analyse and manage the non-market environment of business
5. Develop strong moral reasoning among the students and to provide a model for
analyzing the relationship between an organization and its non market stakeholders.
