DEDICATION

I would like to thank my lovely parents and teachers for giving me this opportunity to get this
degree and supporting me in all my student life. Their support enables me to accomplish my
MBA degree. I dedicate this report to my ever-loving parents and my teachers, specifically to
my loving father.

PREFACE
First of all I am very thank full to ALIMIGHTY ALLAH who gives me strength to fulfill the last
requirement of MBA course.
The Internship report is an opportunity for the students to apply theoretical knowledge and to gain
practical experience about public and private organizations and their practices and procedures.
Training plays an important part in developing the managerial skills of the people. Every organization
is in search of capable & efficient administrators, who are properly trained. This training opportunity
is provided to the students of Master in Business Administration though the internship program.
I choose to do my internship in MOBILINK GSM SILK TELECOM for internship was based on a
desire to work in the challenging environment and being able to put all efforts to understand, and
absorb the managerial techniques and philosophies existing in the organization.
Two months period is not sufficient to understand the operations of organizations. But still it was a
great experience to have a feel of the practical world and keeping in view the limitations of the study.
The major quest was the deeper understanding of managerial activities, exploring issues, trouble
shooting through findings. I have exclusively studied and observed the organizational structure,
Remittances department and customer services.
This report presents extracts of initiator learning, observation and analysis of MOBILINK GSM. This
report attempts to give a few but concrete facts and analysis, which would not challenge MOBILINK
GSM limitation. The report can be very helpful for those interested in getting information about these
great assets of our country and especially for the students studying the management system and
process.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Mobilink being the pioneer of introducing cellular networks in Pakistan has established itself as the
major cellular company of Pakistan, covering almost every city of Pakistan with a customer base of
over 30 million. It is a subsidiary of orascom Telecom, which has grown to become a major player in
the telecommunication market in the world. it is considered among the largest and most diversified
network operator in the Middle East, Africa and Pakistan. Orascom Telecom has positioned itself as a
leader in the region for its diverse GSM operations, with various GSM support and internet operations
Orascom Telecoms operation in Pakistan Mobilink started its operation in 1994 and has become the
market leader both in term of growth as well as having the largest customer subscriber base in
Pakistan .Mobilink is a giant the reason being that they are still expensive as compare to other
companies like Ufone, Telenor, and Warid. As people rely on Mobilink services that are why Mobilink
still charging high rates people specialy business class hesitates to switch o any other cellular
company.
Since 1990 the cellular industry in Pakistan has gone though many ups and downs . until 1997, its
growth was slow due to non conducive regulatory policies, lack of local expertise, little or no effort to
target masses , reluctance of major investors, unstable political condition and security issues. The
industry gained momentum after the introducation of prepaid regime in 1997 and granting of a license
to Ufone Gradually, the services providers have enhanced their capacith both in area coverage and
quality .Major reasons for this rapid growth have been network expansion reduction in entry costs and
central excise duty, and aggressive marketing.
In Pakistan, cellular companies have mostly been focusing on major cities, with a minor effort to offer
coverage in rural and less privileged areas. Seventy percent of the business comes from the four
development of the telecommunication sector owes much to the contribution made by the cellular
companies, foremost amongst them being the pioneering role played by Mobilink .The company has
successfully transformed an initially slow paced industry, into a booming industry tFinanceough
aggressive investment and expansion of coverage present in more than 1200 cities towns and villages
of Pakistan. Recently the telecom sector in Pakistan has attracted a lot of attention from international
investors and for the right reasons it is one of the fastest growing sectors with a huge potential market.
Looking at the billboards and media advertisement of mobile phones in Pakistan it is hard to believe
that until a few years ago there was no one else but PTCL monopoly. Mobilink has the exclusive
distinction of being the only cellular company in Pakistan to have spearheaded their developmental of
the telecommunications sector to unprecedented heights since coming into operation a little over
twelve year ago. The overall picture of Orascom is that a strong and aggressive company takes; it is

well competing effectively against its global competitors with all the risk Orascom takes; it is well
suited for those investor who are not satisfied with playing it safe. Till now Orascoms .Mobilink is
led by Zouhair A Khalid who is the president and CEO Mr.Zouhair took over Mobilink in June
2003.Since then Mobilink has embarked on an aggressive growth strategy. Each of the seven divisions
has , and the its vice President , the Functional Head and Functional Manager line Managers, Senior
and junior officers and the lower staff Mobilink has a good infrastructure and the network is
established well, with a very professional approach and a highly skilled staff, which makes it the
premier choice for the subscriber .Skill Telecom GSM franchise was establish in the year 2001. The
franchise offers prepaid / postpaid connection. It makes use of the
CRM of Mobilink GSM to respond to various customer queries and needs .there is also an automated
billing system, being a part of Microsoft Biztech server 2002 for the Franchises to facilitate the
postpaid billing of the customers that is easily updated into the main system via the network. Its
customer service includes change of SIM, change of ownership, scratch cards GPRS Activation,
International Roaming, SIM lost, Billing queries and incoming out coming calls blocks
The belief at Mobilink is that Our people are our greatest assets. We take great pride in
acknowledging the contribution each one of us makes. As my stay as internee with Mobilink GSM
Franchise Silk Telecom I see the structure and polices regarding their Employees and customers they
are very good .they are dealing there customers a very good manner. The staff is very good and well
dressed. I find all of them very cooperativetive and I learn lots of things from them.
