Standards :
Unless otherwise stated, HT switch board shall conform to following relevant Indian standard with
latest amendment and latest Indian electricity rules and regulation.

IS 3427 : AC metal enclosed switch gear and control gear above 1 KV up to including 52 KV

IS 2147 : Degree of Protection provided by enclosure for low voltage switch gear and control
gear
c)
IS 375 : Switch gear bus bar main connection and auxiliary wiring etc.

IS 2705 : Current transformer general requirement
e)
IS 3156 : Voltage transformer general requirement

IS 3231 : Electrical relay for power system protection
g)
IS 1248 : Direct acting indicating analogue electrical measuring instrument and their accessories part 1 general requirement

Construction Details
MS Sheet Steel enclosure is made out of 14 gauge thick and shall be folded and welded. Thickness of
door is 2 mm, rear and front with surface mounting hinges in each compartment. The switchgear shall
be with louvers for ventilation and shall provide a degree of protection IP 44. All louvers shall how
screens and filters.
Circuit breaker carriage shall be fitted with positive guide so as to ensure proper alignment.
Switchgear cubicle shall be provided with top sheet metal plate 3 mm thick, cubicle with bottom entry
shall be fixed with removable plates for fixing XLPE cable terminating kit and glands. Switch gear
shall be provided with painted legend indicating switchgear designation, rating and duty of each relay,
instrument switch, fuse and other devices shall be provided with separate legend.
Safety, interlocks and features switchgear shall be provided with following interlocks. Operation on
circuit breaker shall not be possible unless it is fully onto working position withdrawn to service
position (Isolated from supply) or fully drawn out. The breaker shall be earthed before the main
circuit breaker controls are plugged in the stationary contacts. Positive earthling of circuit breaker
frames truck shall be maintained in the connected position.
For safe transportation of circuit breaker eye bolts are provided where applicable. Caution line
terminals shall be provided at all points where terminals are likely to remain live and isolation should
be possible only at remote end.

Bus bar System

Bus bar are fabricated from Electrolyte grade Aluminium E91 as per IS 5082 and the current density
shall not exceed 0.8A/sqmm. Bus bar shall not be accessible after opening bus bar channel door. A
separate wire mesh cover shall be provided bus bar and channel door, bus bar supports are moulded
from thermosetting fibres glass reinforced polyester material having high impact and tensile strength
high tracking index and properties of high temperature withstand and fire retardance. It has to support
dynamic stress conforming IS 2544. Bus bar shall be suitably colour coded for phase indication.

VCB (Vacuum Circuit Breaker)

11 KV 3 phase 50 Hz 350 MVA circuit breaker dust and vermin proof totally enclosed in sheet steel
housing fully inter locked horizontal draw out un-door truck type with trip free spring losing
mechanism with mechanical On-Off indicators earthling terminals automatic safety shutters, complete
with auxiliary contacts, resign cast CTs of suitable ratio and accuracy class for metering and also
protection. Bus bar compartment have suitable capacity non Hygroscopic and high dielectric strength
SMC/FRP bus bar supports with suitable sleeves. Metering compartment with 144x144mm flush type
ammeter with suitable selector switch, combined overload and earth fault protective relays with IDMT
relays characteristic, shunt/series trip coil under voltage release, indication lamps cable entry boxes
including all inter connections providing fire/heat resistant coatings for metering, bus bar CB Truck
enclosures and painting with approved synthetic enamel paint complete panel as per IS 2516 & IS
3427 with latest amendment complete as required. The spring closing mechanism will be manual.
