INTERACTION PROCEDURE

ACTUAL RESPONSE

The teacher begins the class with an introduction and askes questions to the students
Whatis the peculiarity of area of a triangle with same base and between the parallel lines?
[Equal][Recalls]
Now, try to solve a problem
Can we draw a triangle with the same area as the triangle ABC shown below, but with triangle
at A, a right angle?
The teacher shows a chart

What we have to find?

[We have to find whether can we draw a triangle with the same area as the triangle ABC in the
A the angle at A, a right angle]B[Identifies]
figure, but with

Can we draw it?

[Yes, we can]
[Recognize]
How?
[Confusion]
The teacher then shows a chart

If we draw a line parallel to AB through C, then by joining any point D on this line to A and B,
we get a triangle ADB whose area is equal to the area of the triangle ABC.
What we got now?
[We get ABC with the same area as ADB] [Recognize]
What we required here?
[We need the same area and <A must be 900]
For that, what we have to do now?
[Confusion]
The third vertex must also be on the perpendicular to AB through A
Then the teacher shows a chart

REVIEW AND APPLICATION

In the picture above, if we want a triangle of the same area as that of the triangle ABC, but with a
right angle at B, then we need only draw the perpendicular to AB through B instead how do we draw
a triangle of the same area as that of the triangle ABC and with a right angle at C?
How can we draw this?
[If we draw a line parallel to BC through A, then for any point P on the line,

BPC would

have the same area as that of ABC].

Then the teacher draws it in blackboard.

To get a right angle at C, what we have to do?

We need only draw the perpendicular to BC through C and cut the first line.
Then the teacher draws it an blackboard and told the students to draw it on the note book

FOLLOW UP ACTIVITY
Draw ABC with
P AB= 4 cm, BC=5cm, CA=6cm B
Draw an isosceles triangle of the same area with one side
as AB itself.
