HYDROTEST PROCEDURE
(HULL)
1.

PURPOSE
1.1
To describe the method PT. Jaya Asiatic Shipyard Indonesia shall adapt to hydro
test hull and tank.
1.2
Ensure quality and trusty for welded joint from leakage and deformation.

2.

SCOPE
2.1
This procedure shall apply to all fabrications required by the applicable code or
client specification to be hydro test prior to final acceptance.
2.2
This procedure covers the detail of hydro testing of process hull and tank to meet
the code clients specifications
2.3
The scope of pressure test of systems shall be in accordance with isometric or
hydro test flow diagram.

3.

RESPONSIBILITY
3.1
QA / QC responsible to perform hydro test to check the quality of welded joint
according to requirement.
3.2
QA / QC responsible to issue PQR (Procedure Quality Record), WPS (Welding
Procedure Specification) with approved by class.
3.3
Owner approval if any.

4.

HYDRO TEST PROCEDURES

4.1. PREPARATION
4.1.1 The production supervisor shall be responsible for the preparation of hydro test.
All welding heat treatment, dimensional inspection and NDT shall be completed
and complied with the code, specification and drawing prior the pressure testing.
4.1.2 The authorized inspector and / or client representative should have reviewed all
radiographs. NDT reports and completed internal and external visual inspection.
4.1.3 The vessel shall be thoroughly cleaned inside and outside. This shall include the
removal of any spatter, flux and grease.
4.1.4 The QA/QC coordinator shall ensure that all the test measuring equipment used
for hydrostatic test is suitably calibrate to a known National Standard prior to test.
4.2 TEST MEDIA AND TEST TEMPERATURE
4.2.1. Generally the test media is clean water. Additional Code or clients requirement
shall specified in hydrostatic test specification.
4.2.2 Test temperature shall be determined from the applicable code or client
specification.
4.3 HYDRO TEST
In order to ensure the structural adequacy, hydrostatic testing of tanks shall be required in
connection with the approval of the testing design. Hydrostatic testing is also to verify the
structural adequacy of the design and the water tightness of the tanks structure by means
of water pressure, This testing to ensure no permanent deformation at all section of tank
during and after testing. Hydrostatic testing is to consist of head of water to the level
specified in table below
