About this document
INTRODUCTION
The screenflow is the UI document that represents every screen, their behavior
and the navigation between them. The logical names of the whole software can
be shown too.
NAVIGATION
Navigation using the device is illustrated in this document using reference boxes near each screen.
Each press or gesture is represented by an icon, as shown below:
This screenflow presents the Digital TV for Windows Phone 8.1. This document
only presents the structure of the software, and does not illustrate design details
such as color, screen layout, font, element behavior, icons layout etc.
TAP
Performs primary action on tapped objecttypically Select. Act on release.
LONG PRESS
Displays contextual actions menu of the object.
HARDWARE BUTTONS
Hardware button actions are represented by an icon, as shown below:
BACK
Go back within an application or between applications.
START
Takes the user to the start menu from anywhere on the device.
SEARCH
Launch the device search experience.
DRAG
Drag scrolls lists or canvas.
FLICK
Flick moves the list or canvas in the direction of the stroke. The amount of movement
depends on the speed of the flick. Inertia will slow the movement down.
PINCH
Zoom out optically. Decrease level of details in information.
STRETCH
Zoom in optically. Increase level of details in information.

Controlled Vocabulary
The Controlled Vocabulary consist of a list of terms to be used as a standard,

ensuring the homogeneity of the dialogues and system texts, facilitating the
understanding by the user through the use of standardised vocabulary
expressions.
In this section you will find a word, it's definition in the context of the product
and synonyms in which the main word must be used instead as a defined
pattern.

The physical space or region where the user is located. It's used in the context of Digital
TV's signal strength, NOT related to content restrictions due to political borders (region).
Do not use: country, county, region, estate.

The electronic component composed by phones and microphone (usually) that is plugged
on the device to be used as the antenna for the Digital TV.

for children with some restrictions applied (functions and content), configured by it's parents
or guardians.
Do not use: kids' corner, kids corner, kids place, kids mode.

[7] If, after 10 seconds tuned, the broadcaster doesn't

send the program guide information, the application will
have an understanding that the broadcaster doesn't
provide it and will display the "No guide available"
message instead.
[5] After the channel is tuned, there is a 10-second timeout* for receiving the program guide
information. During this wait, the Channel Carousel's show title area displays the "Searching
guide..." message.
When the tuning is complete, the current channel goes to the first spot in the carousel.
When the program guide information is received, it is stored in cache.

Quick Zapping
Another way to change channels, independent of the Channel Carousel in the Live Menu. The feature allows scrolling through channels one by one. Unlike the Channel Carousel, Quick Zapping loops around the channels, allowing the user to quickly zap from the last to the first channel.

[3] When swiping or selecting a channel from the carrousel, with the Live Menu active, the app
bar must be displayed. During the animation of the swiping and while running, the info, record and
screenshot buttons must be in actives but still visible, since the user will be able to select other
options from the menu while running the channel. The system tray must respect this same rule:
always be visible when the Live Menu is active. When scrolling, the signal quality icon stays on
the screen, being disabled on the tuning and reappearing for the new tuned channel.

speaker". In spanish "pasar al altavoz" and in portuguese "trocar para viva-voz".

There are a couple of ways to access the Program Guide:

Tap the selected channel in the Channel Carousel
Flick up the selected channel. The user can not check the program guide of a channel

gathered from the API should be filled in: event
name (program name), location (channel), date,
time, duration and description. However, it is
possible to edit this information manually.
"Channel" in english, in portuguese: "canal" and in

[3] The reminder will be save in the Microsoft
account calendar by default but this can be changed
by the user.
[4] After saving the reminder it will be added to the
user's Calendar, however it is possible to edit all

deleted in both areas. The notification covers up the Signal Quality icon.

hours.

[1] If antenna is removed or there are a several signal loss during the recording, the
"RECORDING" label will be replaced by "PAUSED". The paused information "Paused
00:00:00" should blink (0.8 sec ON, 0.3 sec OFF). Also a feedback message appear for
the user.
[2] Pressing stop button will stop and save the recording.
[3] "Check if is possible to keep the last recorded frame in the background."
In this use case, the signal for the channel that is being recorded is lost, the recording
stops while the DTV searches for the channel's signal, continuing the recording if it
succeeds or stopping and saving it if the channel is not found again.

[1] The Sleep Timer countdown only appears in the Live Menu, decreasing from 1 to 1
minute (60, 59, 58...). However, if there is less than 5 minutes to close the application,
the Sleep Timer countdown appears on the Live TV as well, decreasing from 1 to 1
minute too. The number accompanying the icon is a regressive countdown, changed
every minute according to the time remaining until the application is closed (ex. 6, 5, 4,
3, 2, 1). The counter remains in "1" until the application is closed, it will not show the
seconds between 1 and 0.

The user has 5 seconds to decide, or the DTV application will close automatically. This
notification appears inside of the DTV application over any screen or notification of the
Digital TV. The sleep timer will be disabled if the user closes the application. This
notification is not a system notification, it is a DTV notification and only works if the
application is running.
Return to Live TV but the sleep timer is kept.
3. Description of Functionality
Main Objective:
The main objetive of this function is to prevent the user to forget to close the
application if he falls asleep. Other uses can be considered, like using this feature
as a alarm, setting the Sleep Timer just before an appointment or when the user
have a limited time to watch TV.
Application on Background
When the application goes to the system background (home button, gallery video,
media playing, call, etc), the Sleep Timer keeps counting. When the application is
reactivated, the counter updates. If there is still some time to the application to
close, the timer keeps running. If when the application backs, the remain gin time is
negative, the sleep timer is deactivated and the application keeps running.
Clock adjustments (auto or by the user)

If the clock is adjusted by the user on the system settings or automatically due to GMT or
carrier input, the Sleep Timer will be deactivated and the user will have to set it up again.
No channels found
If there are no settings on the application menu, like when there is no channel being
transmitted, the Sleep Timer feature will not be available.
The back button
The back button dismisses the Sleep Timer notification, but keep the timer running until
the application is closed.
Positioning
The icon and the counter must be on the upper part of the screen, on the opposite
side of the app bar, avoiding it to be covered by the extended app bar.
Live Menu
On the Live Menu the timer is always exhibit if the Sleep Timer is activated, decreasing
from 1 to 1 minute.
Zoom (pinch)
When zooming in or out, the timer presents the same behaviour of the Closed
Caption.
Sleep Timer edit

If the user changes the Sleep Timer settings on the application menu, the counter is
reseted to the time picked on the menu.
Application is Closed
If the application closes, the Sleep Timer is deactivated when the user opens it again.
Animation
The Sleep Timer animation must follow the motion adopted by the UI. Since it is in the
upper part of the screen, the timer will come from up to down.
Screenshot and Record mode
The Sleep Timer counter is not showed when the user takes a screenshot or enters in the
record mode. If the notification is exhibited during the recording and the user cancels the
sleep timer, the recording continues. If the user pushes back and just dismiss the
notification, when the counter reaches 0, the recording is stopped, saved and then the
application closes.

The notification will be exhibited no matter the user control the is being displayed, five
seconds before the counter reaches 0 and the application closes.

3. Description of Functionality
Main Objective:
No channels found
The main objetive of this function is to keep track of the quality of the signal that the
DTV is receiving, giving a feedback to the user, making him aware of any changes
on the quality of the signal.
If there is no channel being transmitted, the signal quality does not appears, since it is not
possible to access the Live Menu.
Application on Background
When the application is reactivated from background, the signal quality icon updates
normally.
Positioning
The icon must follow the positioning of the Sleep Timer, assuming the same
behaviour and animation. The signal quality icon must be located right above the
Sleep Timer icon, since it will always be displayed on the Live Menu view, and the
Sleep Timer icon is optional (only when the function is active).
Zoom (pinch)
When zooming in or out, the timer presents the same behaviour of the Sleep Timer
icon, keeping its position no matter the user pinches the screen to zoom.
Record mode
On the record mode, the signal quality icon must be hidden.

The back button on the No Signal screen leads the user to the Exit Confirmation.
Live Menu
On the Live Menu the Signal Quality icon will always be displayed.
Animation
The Signal Quality icon animation must follow the motion adopted by the UI, following the
same pattern applied on the Sleep Timer icon. Since it is in the upper part of the screen, the
icon will come from up to down when the Live Menu is displayed and the opposite animation
when the Live Menu is dismissed.
The Signal Quality icon must not be captured on the screenshot, since it's not visible on
the Live TV, only on the Live Menu, which does not allows the user to take a screenshot
when it's displayed.
