Perform quality inspection of tank externals. Ensure that all


shell and roof plates outer surface and welds, pipe support
clips, vertical ladders, stairways and platforms, shell
stiffener and top angle, painting, Insulation and signs of
gasket leaks, leaks from attached valves and
/instrumentation, nozzles and manholes connections,
breather valve with flame arrester, free vents, pressure
relief valves, emergency vent cover, gauge hatch, air foam
system piping, foundation bolts and nuts, reinforcing pads,
earth lugs, settlement check pieces and other external
components are free of corrosion, scale and dirt. Refer to
VP-071061-106-Z-3131-202 - DESALINATION SYSTEM
ATM TANK ASSEMBLY DRAWING
Dismantle scaffolding/platforms/ladders used during the
cleaning and final inspection
Clean work area and close all safety and special permits.
Close maintenance work permit and attach all supporting
documentation.

Ensure that the equipment is purged, drained, degassed
and free of hazardous medium.
Test for hazardous gases using calibrated and certified
Gas Analyzers. Oxygen content should pass industry and
plant safety standards. Gas test periodically or as required.

Perform initial internal inspection to determine and list the


scope of maintenance to be performed.
Clean internals of scale and dirt using applicable means,
equipment and tools: power brush, jet washer, scrubbing,
others.
Final Quality internal inspection and acceptance. Ensure
that all shell, roof and bottom plates inner surface and
welds, dip pipes, draw-off sump, deflector for air foam
system and other internal components are free of scale
and dirt. Refer to VP-071061-106-Z-3131-202 DESALINATION SYSTEM ATM TANK ASSEMBLY
DRAWING
Remove all tools, materials, and air handling equipment
from vessel internal.
Ensure that all personnel have been evacuated and
counter check against the approved and issued Confined
Space Entry Permit and Authorized Personnel Entry List.
Remove all blinds, replace old nozzle gaskets and return
to normal line-up.
Close all manways. Replace old gaskets. Use calibrated
torque wrenches or hydraulic/pneumatic power torqueing
tool. Refer to Torque Tension Relationship for ASTM
A193 B7 Bolts and Studs or Torque Chart for ASTM A193
Grade B7 Studs. Return manhole cover insulation, as
applicable.
