JOHN PHILIP RUIZ SOMERA
BEED 3A As a citizen of the Philippines specifically part of the Luzon area, I know that most courses offered of every Universities, agriculture and fishery will always be there because these courses are the major livelihood of the Filipinos particularly those who are in rural areas. The parents mandate their children who are taking college to take a course related to agriculture, fisheries, and natural resources (AFNR) courses because they think it is in demand, when their children finish their course they maybe anticipated that their children will get a job as fast as they expected because they know that lot opportunities are waiting for them, the focus of the study is on how does the students what career do they want to pursue is it either agriculture, fisheries, and natural resources (AFNR) courses or not related to that. One of the impact why the student chose his/her course is because of the influence of their parents, probably when they are lack in financial. On the other hand, the study aimed to determine where a part of AFNR courses does a student having difficulties. For that, it gives realization or idea for the researchers to conclude why student chose to take his/her course yet, he/she wont like it. They included 2 nd year students and graduating students of AFNR courses as their respondents. For 2 nd year students, it will be the stage where in the students will decide whether he/she will continue the course he/ she started, he/she can now decide because of the experience he/she have when he/she is on freshman level. And for the graduating students, it is on their hand if they will go to pursue their course because they have already the experienced and knowledge taking their assumed degree for almost four years. As a result of the study, they concluded that most of the students prefer not to pursue AFNR courses because of their experience before having a life of farming and fishing. Moreover, those students who chose AFNR courses wants also to be a government employee thats why they took their courses.
PREDISPOSITION FACTORS OF STUDENTS CHOICE IN
AGRICULTURE, FISHERIES, AND FORESTRY COURSES IN VISAYAN REGIONS, PHILIPPINES JOHN PHILIP RUIZ SOMERA BEED 3A We all know that Visayan region is also an area of the Philippines that is rich in land and water resources thats why one of the major livelihoods in this part of the country is agriculture, forestry, and fishing. Base on the study women are more interested to take forestry and fishery course because as we see on the number of enrollees female has a huge number rather than male and took a course which was stated while male has just 55% of enrollees who took agriculture. According to the survey when the year 2050 comes 70% of the global population will rather to live in urban places, unfortunately, it will affect the course standing of agriculture, fishery and forestry (AFF) because instead of taking course related to AFF they will going to take a course that is suited in urban areas like accountancy, education, business administration and those courses that your job is to stay in an office. Concrete example of this is those Filipino overseas who wants to live in a progressive country that will consider an urban area having an updated way of living. They rather go abroad instead of doing agriculture and fishing. nowadays, lot of Filipino citizens are suffering from poverty thats why instead of wasting their time farming or fishing session they rather go abroad even graduated with a degree just to earn money. But that is beyond the rule of the Philippine law that we should empower agriculture, fishing and forestry sector to give justice on it. The study focuses on how do the students chose their course and give significance to their degree, instead of making yourself a foreigner you should stay here in the Philippines and empower AFF sector. By the knowledge of women in fishing and forestry and skill of man in agriculture it will lead the economy of our country to be progressive. As a result, male students who took agriculture was motivated to address the welfare of their family, because for them male is for agriculture. On the other hand, female students who took fishery are wants to explore that they can do also male jobs and be an employee of the government with profession.
