Relationship of Course to Program Outcomes (Delivery / Assessment)

The items indicated as Delivery are delivered / reinforced / emphasized in this course and are
accomplished through structuring and focusing the course on the course learning outcomes. The course
learning outcomes are attained by the students when 70% or more of the students (not counting
withdrawals) pass the course.
The items indicated as Assessment will be assessed in this course. This is accomplished through
question(s) on test(s) or final exam o through projects worth up to 10 points out of the total course grade.
Assessment question(s) / projects are approved by the CIE Assessment Committee. Assessed items are
attained by the students when 70% or more of the students score 70% or more on the assessment
question(s) / projects.
Program Outcome: (a) an ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering
Relation
Performance Criteria
Ability to apply knowledge of statics, strength of materials, and material properties

Studying

You are expected to attend all classes and arrive on time. Obtain prior clearance for
planned absences and meet with the instructor after any emergency absences. It is
the students responsibility to obtain any class notes and/or homework questions in
case of being absent from a lecture.

LAU expects all students to maintain the highest level of integrity.

Cheating or plagiarism will not be tolerated. University policies regarding
academic integrity are available in http://www.lau.edu/policies

The instructor will adhere to all LAU policies regarding academic integrity
as stated.

All work must be the result of students own efforts.

Students who are suspected of plagiarism or other violations of academic

integrity codes will face investigation. Those found guilty will face disciplinary
action. Repeated offenses will result in permanent expulsion from the University.
Make a consorted effort to be present for each test since there will not be any
makeup. A student who misses a test will be given a zero grade unless the student
can provide a convincing excuse. With a convincing excuse, either a make-up exam
will be given or the other exams will be weighted heavier, at the instructors
discretion.
Midterm will be scheduled on the mid of October.
Syllabus, solution of homework, solution of tests, solution of previous tests,
handouts, and any relevant material are placed on Blackboard.
Students caught cheating on an exam receives a grade of zero on the exam in the
first cheating attempt and a warning. Students caught cheating for the second time in
the same course receives an F grade in the course and a second warning.

You need to study on a regular basis (after each lecture). Do not postpone
studying till just before the tests.

You are responsible for all the material covered in class. Any material that
is in the textbook and not covered in class will not be included in the tests.

Take advantage of my office hours. It is your chance to get individual

attention and explanation.

A well prepared student does not need to study on the night before the
exam.

Additional
Remarks

Use SAP2000 on your own and do exercises as soon as they are assigned.
A zero grade will be given for missing an in class exercise, unless
convincing excuse is provided.
