BCMS, SERVODRIVERS PANASONIC,TUNING

PROCEDURE FROM BCMS REL. 4.26
Here after you can find the complete procedure for the autocalibration of the drivers
mounted on machines equipped with the new Panasonic drives and brushless motors,
applying on the shape cut machine belonging to the MODULINEA series, equipped with the
machine operating software BCMS in its version 4.26 or more recent.
Should your machine not be equipped with a version of the operating software corresponding
to the 4.26 ore more recent, it is suggested to ask Bottero S.p.A for an update.

Preparation of the machine

Removal of Locking Units on Motors
Before starting the calibration of the driver you have to release the mechanical
connection between motors and moving couplers.

Bridge motor.
After the removal of the bridge protective cover and of the bridge head protective cover on
motor side, loosen the 4 screws fixing the motor to the cutting bridge.

Arrangement of PC driver connections

In order to check the connections between the
personal computer and the drivers you have to
remove the right side panel of the control rack.
Unscrew the eight screws fixing the right side
panel and remove it in order to have access to
the drivers and to the computer.

Use safety shoes, due to the panel

weight.
There can be two different conditions:
1.
2.

Drive connection to the network

Drive serial connection

Drive connection to the network

This type of connection is arranged when mounting the machine and allows the communication
in the same time of the personal computer of the machine with all used drivers.
To recognize the a.m. connection, you just have to check if cables are connected to the
connectors of SER and NET drivers, as shown in the figure here below.

The personal computer is connected on the CN SER connector of the first driver through a
RS232 serial connection.
(the first driver must be always the number zero in this case drive X)
A RS485 serial connection starts from this driver, connecting from the CN NET connector to the
serial connection of the second driver and so on.

In case of network connection of drivers, it is important to set their address in order to allow
the BCMS program recognizing the type of axis controlled by the driver, and therefore to
acquire the parameters to be used during the calibration operations.
The a.m. addresses have to be set by means of the rotary switch present on the panel of the
driver and have to be configured according to the following table.
Axis

Drive serial connection

Should the network connection not be available, it is possible to connect every single driver to
the personal computer through a serial cable supplied with the machine.

Said cable has to be connected to the COM1 serial port of the personal computer of the
machine and to the driver you want to calibrate on the CN NET connector.

Unlike the network connection of drivers, that allows the BCMS program "dialoging" with all
installed drivers, the serial connection allows communicating with only one driver at a time;
therefore, to pass from a driver to another, you have to change the connection.
During the connection of the driver with the personal computer you have to make
sure that the machine is switched off, by operating on the OFF pushbutton placed on
the control panel.
It is also important to remark that the address of all drivers has to be set at 1, always by
means of the rotary switch.
