Bridge motor.
After the removal of the bridge protective cover and of the bridge head protective cover on
motor side, loosen the 4 screws fixing the motor to the cutting bridge.
Loosen the tension bar for the adjustment of the bridge belt tensioning and let the motor slide
until you can release the belt from the pinion, then tighten the 4 screws fixing the plate
previously loosened.
Tension bar
Once released the bridge, position it near the zero point, so that the slowdown proximity is
engaged and the stop one is free.

Carriage motor.
After the removal of the carriage protective cover, loosen the 4 screws fixing the motor
supporting bracket to the carriage.
Carriage fixing
screws
By means of the slots, let the motor slide until the pinion is mechanically released from the
rack, then tighten again the 4 screws locking the fixing plate.
Once released the carriage from the motor, position it near the zero point, so that the
slowdown proximity is engaged and the stop one is free.
The personal computer is connected on the CN SER connector of the first driver through a
RS232 serial connection.
(the first driver must be always the number zero in this case drive X)
A RS485 serial connection starts from this driver, connecting from the CN NET connector to the
serial connection of the second driver and so on.

In case of network connection of drivers, it is important to set their address in order to allow
the BCMS program recognizing the type of axis controlled by the driver, and therefore to
acquire the parameters to be used during the calibration operations.
The a.m. addresses have to be set by means of the rotary switch present on the panel of the
driver and have to be configured according to the following table.
Axis
Address

Y

rotary switch
Said cable has to be connected to the COM1 serial port of the personal computer of the
machine and to the driver you want to calibrate on the CN NET connector.
Unlike the network connection of drivers, that allows the BCMS program "dialoging" with all
installed drivers, the serial connection allows communicating with only one driver at a time;
therefore, to pass from a driver to another, you have to change the connection.
During the connection of the driver with the personal computer you have to make
sure that the machine is switched off, by operating on the OFF pushbutton placed on
the control panel.
It is also important to remark that the address of all drivers has to be set at 1, always by
means of the rotary switch.

Autocalibration
Make sure that the machine is ON.
The key sequence to access the Autocalibration menu, starting from the BCMS program main
video page is the following:
1. Press F9
Autodiagnostic
2. Press F9 again
Password
3. Enter the
password 4995
and confirm by
pressing
Enter
4.
Now press F7
Autocalibration
The program displays a video-page like the one shown here after, where some data concerning
the drivers and a further function key area are displayed.
Check that the state of drivers is OK and that the parameter PosEnc detects the movements of the axes
when you move them manually.

Alarm
The last column, untitled, displays the status of the driver or the error/malfunctioning, if any.
Before carrying out the calibration you have to be sure that for each one there is an indication
of OK, i.e. the driver works and is ready.

5. Press F6
for select the Y axis (carriage).
After some seconds the program displays inside the new Driver Data Area the
parameters at present saved and active on the selected driver.
These are inserted in a table reporting:
Par.
Value
Label
To carry out the calibration of axes you just have to select them now.

Axis Autocalibration
First of all, transfer on the driver the parameters concerning the selected axis (in this case, the
Y-axis).
Proceed as follows:
6. Press F5
to compare the parameters present in a file of the Personal
Computer, with those of the driver.
Once pressed these key, the
program displays a message window
like the one shown in the figure and
asks the operator to press the Enter
key to confirm the operation.
7. At the end of the data transmission to the RAM of the driver, the program displays a
window showing the differences between the parameters contained in the transmitted
file and those contained in the EEPROM of the driver.
Parameter Differences
Lower Frame
8. As remembered in the lower frame of the window, the operator shall press once more
Enter to confirm the data transfer.
9. Once carried out the transmission,
the software will ask for a further
confirmation to write the new
parameters from the RAM to the
EEPROM of the driver.
By pressing Enter again you'll confirm the writing on EEPROM.
10. To make effective those modifications, you'll have to switch the machine off and on
again, as required by the program.
F8
The program will carry out the calibration of the selected motor in few
seconds, while you can notice a movement of the axis.
At the end of the calibration the message Press CYCLE to start, that in the meanwhile
disappeared, will be displayed again.
13. Once ended the calibration, you'll have to press the ESC key to exit from the a.m.
menu; the program will display the message shown here after and will ask the operator
for pressing the Enter key to transfer the parameters detected during the calibration on
the EEPROM of the driver and make them effective.
Now save in a file the parameters that have been changed during the axis calibration:
The program will display the window reporting the parameters contained in the trasmitted file
and those of the driver.
Parameter Differences
Lower Frame
Now the operation opposite the the previous one shall be carried out, i.e. read the data from
the driver and save them in the personal computer by pressing the F2 function key. (in this
condition, the F2 key has not an identifying icon)
The program will display the box shown on the right, the
operator shall coinfirm by pressing Enter.
WARNING:
This operation shall be carried out only after a calibration, in order to upfate the files present on
the PC with the new parameters detected during the test of the axis.

This function allows the alignment of the encoder count to the machine
configuration.
When you choose this function the program displays a menu like the one shown
in the figure.
Through the display of the Encoder Position it is possible to check if the count
is coherent with the machine configuration, and, if necessary, to change it just
pressing the Enter key.
Warning: in case of machines of the 2 quadrant, if you move the bridge axis to
the positive direction, you'll remark a decrease of the value of the position
detected by the encoder.
