The 14 Stations of the Cross

Opening Prayer
Merciful Father, as we gather here before you to
reflect on your suffering, death, and resurrection
and as we express our sorrow for our sins, we
humbly ask you to be with us on each station of
your journey. Help us to fully understand and be
grateful for the gift of your salvation you brought as
your gift through Jesus passion, death, and
resurrection. And may grant us also the grace to
realize through your Son, Jesus, how much you love
us. Amen.
ENTRANCE SONG:

Lord?
Were you there when they crucified my
Lord?
Oh sometimes it causes me
To tremble, tremble, tremble.
When you there when they crucified my
Lord?

For I received from the Lord what I also
handed on to you that the Lord Jesus that night he
was handed over, took bread, and, after he had
given thanks, broke it and said, This is my body
that is for you. Do this in remembrance of me. In
the same way also the cup, after supper, saying,
This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this,
as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me. For
as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup. You
proclaim the death of the Lord until he comes.
(Pause)
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, how great your love for us.
You remain the Eucharist to be for us the food and
drink of eternal life. Forgive us Lord, for the times
we have failed to recognize your presence in the
Eucharist and in every person and appreciate your
gift of self to us. Amen.
L: Jesus crucified,
A: Have mercy on us.

withdrawing about a stones throw from them
kneeling, he prayed, saying, Father, if you are
willing, take this cup away from me; still, not my
will but yours be done. [And to strengthen him an
angel from heaven appeared on him. He was such in
agony and prayed so fervently that this sweat
became like drops of blood falling from the ground.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, how lonely it is when not
one of your disciples found the strength to keep you
company in your agony. With your compassionate
heart, we pray for the loneliness of those who have
no friends, no family, no home, no hope and future.
In the depression and despair may you be their
strength and hope. Amen.

Messiah, the son of the Blessed One? Then Jesus
answered, I am; and you will see the Son of Man
seated at the right hand of the Power and coming
with the clouds of heaven.
At the high priest tore His garments and
said, What further need have witnesses? You have
heard the blasphemy. What do you think? they all
condemned him as deserving to die.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, you are the judge of all, yet
you accepted to be judged by the biased Sanhedrin
and high priests. Thousands of injustice still
happens these days. Help us to become just and not
to be contributed to the suffering of the weak, the
defenseless and the voiceless of society in whom
you continue to live and suffer. Amen.

striking his head with a reed and spitting upon him

striped him with a purple cloak, dressed him in his
own clothes, and led him out to crucify him.

world.
Scriptural Reading: Lk. 23:27-31
A large crowd of people followed Jesus,
including many women who mourned and lamented
him. Jesus turned to them and said, Daughters of
Jerusalem, do not weep for me; weep instead for
yourselves and for your children, for indeed, the
days are coming when people when say, Blessed
are barren, the wombs that never bore and the
breasts that never nursed. At that people will say to
the mountains, Fall upon us! and to the hills,
Cover us! for if these things are done when the
wood is green what will happen if it is dry?
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, we wish we were as brave
and sincere enough like the women of Jerusalem
who follow you along the road to Calvary to
express our sorrow for your unjust treatment. And
we wish likewise, to be equally sensitive to the
sufferings of our neighbor especially the squatters,
the jobless, the homeless and all the victims of
injustice and exploitation. Amen.
L: Jesus crucified,
A: Have mercy on us.

When they came to the place called the
Skull, they crucified him and the criminals there,
one on his right, the other on his left. [Then Jesus
said, Father, forgive them, they dont know what
they do.] They divided his garments by casting
lots. The people stood by and watched: the rulers,
meanwhile, sneered at him and said, He save
others, let him save himself if he is the chosen one,
the messiah of God.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, how painful it is when your
precious hands and feet were pierced with nails as a
hammer pounded them through your flesh into the
wood of the cross. Then finally you were lifted up
on the cross. You accepted the suffering and death
out of love for us sinners. It was love that brought
you there. Lord, grant us the grace to do our duties
and responsibilities with love even if it will cost us
pain. Amen.

A: Have mercy on us.

Now one of the criminals hanging there
reviled Jesus, saying, Are you not the Messiah?
Save yourself and us. The other however, rebuking
him, said him in reply, Have you no fear of God,
for you are the subject to the same condemnation?
And indeed we have condemned justly, for the
sentence we receives corresponds to our crimes, but
this man has done nothing criminal. Then he said,
Jesus remember me when you come into your
kingdom. He replied to him, Amen I say to you,
today you will be with me in Paradise.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, we beg You, make us like the
repentant thief who had much faith and trust in you.
Give us the courage to humbly admit all the wrongs
we have done and forgive those who have done us
wrong but would like to be friends with us again.

You were to the repentant thief. Amen.

my spirit; and when he had said this he breathed
his last.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, You gave up your own life
that we might live forever. Indeed we are in great
sorrow for the heartlessness and injustice shown to
a just and holy man, but we thank you for having
died on the cross for our sins, showing to all the
greatness of Gods love and compassion. Amen.

had hewn in the rock. Then he had rolled a huge
stone across the entrance to the tomb and departed.

great earthquake; fro an angel of the Lord
descended from heaven, approached, rolled back the
stone, and sat upon it. His appearance was like
lightning and his clothing was as white as snow.
The guards were shaken with fear of him and
became like dead men. Then the angel said to the
women in reply, Do not be afraid! I know that you
are seeking Jesus the crucified. He is not here, he
has been raised just as he said. Come and see the
place where he lay.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, your Resurrection gives us
