Overview:
A Schengen C-Visa entitles the holder to an accumulated stay of up to 90 days within a period of six months
(this may vary with few Schengen countries) for allowable business purposes within the Schengen Area. The
abolition of the internal borders of the Schengen States, however, warrants strict control at the external
borders of the Schengen Area.
As per Schengen regulations, a Schengen C-Visa for Business Trips must only be obtained for Germany when,
Germany is the main destination country (given the length of stay) or
If the main part of the travel is the same for 2 or more Schengen countries and Germany is the
country entered first.
Note: The determination of the duration of stay is at the discretion of the consulate officer and may be less
than 90 days. Check your visa for the duration you have been granted!
Application Procedure:
If your main destination is Germany and you are residing in Karnataka & Kerala, you have to submit your
visa application to the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bangalore. Please note that
the place of issue of your passport is of no relevance in this regard.
The Personal Interview is mandatory for the First Time travelers to Germany. Others may be exempted or on
Consulars discretion. Appointment to be scheduled Online or thru Travel Agent (Amex) and the print-out of
confirmation e-mail to be submitted along with the documents.
Exception: Frequent Travelers (a) holder of at least two Schengen Visas issued within the last 24 months or
(b) holders of Schengen visas with validity of one or more years and have used the visas within the last 24
months) may submit their applications via Travel Agent without scheduling an appointment for a visa
interview. This option, however, is not available for first time applicants or applicants with a recent reject from
any German Mission.
