Installation of the IDG Oil Filter(s)
WARNING: WEAR GOGGLES, INSULATED GLOVES AND OTHER PROTECTIVE CLOTHES.
HOT OIL CAN BURN YOUR EYES AND SKIN.
IF OIL TOUCHES YOUR EYES OR SKIN, GET MEDICAL AID.
CAUTION: DO NOT LET ENGINE OIL FALL ON THE ENGINE. UNWANTED OIL MUST BE REMOVED
IMMEDIATELY WITH A CLEAN LINT FREE CLOTH THE OIL CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE
SURFACE PROTECTION AND TO SOME PARTS.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 24-21-51-860-055-A
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU, make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in
position to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU, make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND
PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off. Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell
persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
(3) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040) :
(a) FOR 1000EM1 (ENGINE-1)

A. Lubrication of the Consumable Materials
(1) Lubricate the new O-ring (4) with the Material No. 03-002* (OILS) .
(2) Lubricate the new O-ring (2) with the Material No. 03-002* (OILS) .

B. Installation of the Filter Element
WARNING: WEAR GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL THE LOCKWIRE. CUT, REMOVE
AND DISCARD THE LOCKWIRE AS YOU DO THE TASK. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT
OR BLIND YOU.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE COMPONENTS ARE SEATED IN THE IDG SCAVENGE FILTER CAVITY
BEFORE YOU INSTALL THE FILTER COVER. DO NOT TIGHTEN THE FILTER COVER
SCREWS TO FORCE THE FILTER COMPONENTS INTO THE HOUSING.
CAUTION: DO NOT CLEAN AND USE AGAIN A FILTER ELEMENT THAT YOU REMOVED.
(1) Remove the blanking cap from the filter cavity port.
(2) Install the new IPC-CSN (24-21-51-02-180) O-ring (4) on the filter element (3) and make sure that it is
in the correct position.
(3) Install the new IPC-CSN (24-21-51-02-160) O-ring (2) on the filter cover (1) and make sure that it is in
the correct position.
(4) Put the IPC-CSN (24-21-51-02-170) filter element (3) in the filter cavity.
(5) Install the filter cover (1).
(6) TORQUE the filter cover to between 13 and 15 lbf.ft (1.76 and 2.03 m.daN).
(7) Safety the filter cover with Material No. 19-010* (LOCKWIRE STAINLSS STL ANNEALED 0.8MM
DIA) .

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE COMPONENTS ARE IN THE CORRECT POSITION IN THE FILTER
CAVITIES BEFORE YOU INSTALL THE FILTER COVERS. DO NOT TIGHTEN THE FILTER
COVER SCREWS TO PUT THE FILTER COMPONENTS IN THE HOUSINGS.
WARNING: WEAR GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL THE LOCKWIRE. CUT, REMOVE AND
DISCARD THE LOCKWIRE AS YOU DO THE TASK. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT OR BLIND
YOU.
CAUTION: DO NOT CLEAN AND USE AGAIN A FILTER ELEMENT THAT YOU REMOVED.
B. Installation of the Scavenge and Charge Filter Elements
NOTE: The procedure is the same for the two filters
(1) Remove the blanking cap from the filter cavity port.
(2) Install the IPC-CSN (24-21-51-02-200) O-ring (4) on the filter element (3) and make sure that it is in
the correct position.
(3) Install the new IPC-CSN (24-21-51-02-220) O-ring (2) on the filter cover (1) and make sure that it is in
the correct position.
(4) Put the IPC-CSN (24-21-51-02-210) filter element (3) in the filter cavity.
(5) Install the filter cover (1).
(6) TORQUE the filter cover to between 13 and 15 lbf.ft (1.76 and 2.03 m.daN).
(7) Safety the filter cover with Material No. 19-010* (LOCKWIRE STAINLSS STL ANNEALED 0.8MM
DIA) .

C. Fill the IDG oil system (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-24-612-041) .

D. Visual Inspection for Oil Leaks
(1) Do dry motoring (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-001) and make sure that there are no oil leaks at the
cover(s)of the IDG oil filter(s).
NOTE: We recommend that you do a visual inspection to make sure there are no oil leaks at the
cover(s) of the IDG oil filter(s). Do this inspection at the subsequent engine start, at minimum
idle (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-003) .
At this time, the oil pressure in the lubrification system and the cooling system of the IDG is
higher and the oil circulation time is longer.
5. Close-up

(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tool(s) and other items.
(2) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-040) :

(3) Remove the warning notice(s).
