and direct the participants through all the stages of researchfrom identifying a viable
research problem, design to the submission of a dissertation, report, or research
article. It also emphasizes on the variety of quantitative and qualitative research
methods used in economics and allied studies, with particular emphasis on the
implementation of these methods using software packages. The methods will be
illustrated by examples from the diverse fields of economics and related studies.
Hands on sessions will be conducted using statistical packages.
Objectives
The broad objectives of the workshop is build the competency in participants to:
Identify the viable problem, design and tools for research;
Acquaint with methods and tools of data collection,
Strengthen the ability to frame, formulate and test the hypothesis for economic
problems;
Develop understanding of the basic concepts of quantitative and qualitative
data analyses, and interpret and evaluate results of data analysis,
Understand the mechanics of writing research report, research paper,
publishing and selecting journals;
Hands-on training with software packages like SPSS/EViews/DEAP
