Choose The
University of Law
We can trace our origins to 1876
with the formation of the leading
tutorial firm Gibson & Weldon and
later on, with the establishment of
The Law Society School of Law.
In 1962 the two were amalgamated
to establish The College of Law.
In 2006 we made history by becoming
the first-ever independent institution
to gain the power to award degrees.
And in 2012 we became the first private
institution to be given university status,
and became The University of Law.
Our rich heritage is balanced with our
fresh, modern approach. Our passion
for innovation is reflected in the way we
teach, with all our courses combining
academic rigour and practical skills.
Youll be learning to think and act
like a lawyer from day one with
a unique approach to preparing
ambitious professionals to compete
in a fast-changing world.

Our
LLM
Heading
Master of Laws
Broaden your career horizons
and enhance your legal skills
in a specialised practice area.
We are currently reviewing our
Master of Laws (LLM) programmes
to meet changing requirements in
the legal profession. We are excited
to announce that we are developing
two brand new LLMs for 2016 in the
following areas:
Conflict Resolution
Law and Intellectual Property

Our LLMs are designed for law graduates

and qualified lawyers. Each programme
will focus on building the key specialist
knowledge and skills you need to add
weight to your CV and make you stand
out in a competitive job market.
Well-respected by law firms and legal
employers around the world, an LLM
provides you with the opportunity to
develop your career on an international
scale. The more specialist skills set you
have, the further employers will look to
employ you.
Study one of our LLMs, and you will have
the opportunity to demonstrate your expert
knowledge to potential employers through
your own bespoke research project on your
chosen specialist area.
Whether you are a law graduate looking to
bolster your training contract applications, or
a qualified lawyer looking for a career change,
our LLMs are an excellent way to gain in-depth
legal knowledge and develop your analytical,
critiquing and evaluative skills.
Both LLMs will initially be available for online
study only, allowing you the flexibility to fit
your studies around other commitments, such
as work and family.

To register your interest and to be one

of the first to hear about our new LLMs,
visit law.ac.uk/llm and complete the
enquiry form.

Metro Bank Professional Studies Loan for

Legal Studies

You can opt to pay your fees using our flexible finance
options, developed as a result of student feedback.
Just choose the payment scheme that best meets your
needs when you accept your place with us.

The Metro Bank Professional Studies Loan for Legal

Studies is available exclusively for University of
Law students on the GDL, LPC and BPTC courses.
It applies to programmes at any of our centres, and
is available for full-time, part-time and online study
students who meet Metro Banks eligibility criteria.
You could borrow between 1,000 and 25,000 and
only have to start paying it back six months after
you complete your study with us (providing you
do not take a study gap* between any courses).
For example, if you study our GDL and go on
immediately to study the LPC or BPTC with us,
theres no need to commence repayments of your
GDL loan until you finish your final course.
You can apply for a Metro Bank Professional Studies
Loan up to six months before your course start date.
You must, however, have accepted an offer before
you apply. In 2014, 95% of all loan applications
submitted by our students were approved by
Metro Bank.

as well as other third-party funding organisations,
