OPPORTUNITIES FOR ACCA

STUDY AT BIRMINGHAM
CITY UNIVERSITY
Birmingham City University is one of the UKs leading practice-based universities.
Within the University, Birmingham City Business School (BCBS) specialises in providing
highly-rated Accounting and Finance courses. We are one of very few UK universities to
hold the highly acclaimed ACCA platinum status which evidences the high quality of our
tuition and student support.
The University has a proven track record of supporting and educating overseas students
to achieve academic success. In addition to the usual tuition and academic support
students expect, we also provide free English language classes, study skills and other
courses to help them in their studies. We also have tutors who speak a variety of languages
should they be required. There are a whole range of academic and social facilities and
resources to help overseas students to settle quickly into their studies and reach their
goals. We already have an established network of overseas university partners with whom
we work closely and successfully, both via the UK and our offices in Beijing and Shanghai.

Our campus is based in Birmingham, which

is the second largest city in the UK with
excellent road and rail transport links to the
rest of the country (including London) and
overseas via Birmingham Airport. Birmingham
is a modern, multicultural city, steeped
in industrial history and tradition, with a
significant international student population
from all over the world. The cost of living in
Birmingham is significantly less than London
so international students will find Birmingham
a welcoming, practical and affordable city in
which to undertake their studies.

The University offers a number of different tailored learning opportunities in Accounting

and Finance to suit students individual needs and budgets. Our courses are specifically
designed so that students can readily transfer from one course to another at the end of
an academic year to further their studies and/or enhance the opportunity to pass or gain
exemptions from ACCA examinations.
All students registering for Birmingham City University courses must satisfy UK Border
Agency (UKBA) requirements.
We have a flexible policy towards offering scholarships/discounts/bursaries, particularly
when collaborations with other institutions are both financially and academically attractive
both to us and the partnering institution.

Alternatively they could complete their remaining ACCA professional papers via the
full-time ACCA course and then optionally transfer to the MSc Accountancy and Finance
(Top Up) course at Birmingham City University (see below) should they require both a
professional qualification and a UK Masters qualification.

BA (HONS) ACCOUNTING AND FINANCE UNDERGRADUATE DEGREE

We offer a degree in Accounting and Finance that
exempts students from papers F1-F9 of the ACCA
professional examinations.

ACCA FULL-TIME COURSE

The degree course starts in September and normally

takes three years. We do, however, sometimes
enter into partnership agreements with overseas
universities such as a 1+3 or 2+2 which enable
students to still get a UK degree and ACCA exemptions
through only two years of study at Birmingham City
University in the UK.

This course covers all 14 ACCA papers and allows

students a great deal of flexibility.

Entry qualifications vary depending on the point of

entry.

Students enrolled on this course must be registered

with the ACCA.

Students who have completed their degree can transfer on to the full-time ACCA course or
the MSc Accountancy and Finance to complete their ACCA studies and/or gain a Masters
qualification.

As an ACCA platinum approved provider, students are guaranteed to receive high quality
tuition and support facilities whichever course they decide to choose at the University.
The key courses offered and the benefits of each are indicated:

Students can join this course at any stage of their

ACCA professional studies, from introductory level
right up to the final option papers, depending on
which papers they have already passed, or which
they are exempt from. The fees are very competitive
compared to other UK ACCA providers and include
revision and mock examinations.
Students can start the course in either September or January. Students must enrol for
between four and six of the 14 ACCA modules each year (students must also ensure the
ACCA permits them to study these particular modules).
This full-time ACCA course is highly flexible and allows students to study at a suitable pace
to match their personal goals and aspirations.
The annual course fees are between 3,400 and 5,100, depending upon the
number of modules selected.
After completing papers F1-F4 of this course, students may choose to transfer to the
BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance undergraduate degree (see right), thereby gaining
a UK degree and exemptions from ACCA papers F5-F9. Alternatively they could complete
the external examinations for these papers by continuing on our full-time ACCA course.
Students who have successfully completed papers F1-F9 can join our MSc Accountancy
and Finance course (see right). This highly intensive course enables students to combine
their ACCA professional papers (P1-P7) with a Masters qualification.

The annual course fee is currently 10,100.

MSC ACCOUNTANCY AND FINANCE

This 12 month course is available to students who have already passed/gained exemptions
from F1-F9 of the ACCA examinations, or have a relevant first degree, and starts in
September.
It is a highly intensive course which enables students to gain a UK Masters qualification at
the same time as completing the ACCA professional level (P1-P7) examinations.
The annual course fee is currently 10,500.

MSC ACCOUNTANCY AND FINANCE

(TOP UP)
This course is open to students who have already
completed their 14 ACCA examinations and wish
to quickly gain a UK Masters qualification. Fees
for this course are highly competitive.
The course duration is six months, which includes
three months to complete a dissertation, and it
starts in either September or January.
The course fee is currently 4,800.
