At the beginning of this school year, every

ELA teacher brought their classes in for
library orientation. During this time, I was
able to address how to look for
information, but that only hit the surface of

the topic. During my collaborative lesson, I
was able to review with students how to
avoid plagiarism and discuss with them
basic research skills again. I would like to
provide lessons and more in depth lessons
on how to locate information in the media
center/information literacy skills lessons.

this does not happen consistently. I will
encourage teachers to let me help and assist
with this task in the future. Strategies will
be discussed with the teachers to improve
this indicator.

it is not widely used. Moving forward, not
only will I make sure the teachers have the
password for posting, I will develop and
deliver an in-depth lesson on using
GALILEO. Working with the teachers and

would also help the students become
familiar and comfortable with the resource.

6. Student achievement is routinely

assessed.

15. One of the national educational

technology goals states: Effective and
engaging software and on-line resources
will be an integral part of every schools
curriculum. The GALILEO Virtual
Library provides Georgia students and
teachers access to exceptional on-line
resources at no cost to the local school
district.

Information Literacy Skills curriculum is

comprised of basic library media
orientation skills and instruction on how to
find information.

The Library Media Specialist and teachers

plan and teach collaboratively so that the
library media program is an extension of
classroom instruction.
PROFICIENT

I have planned with other teachers and

have had successful lessons in the media
center. I do offer and encourage teachers to
come to the media center and let me help
with various lessons. The media center is
an extension of the classroom at WMS, but
not all of the teachers take advantage of my
offering to help. As of now, I attend the
ELA department meetings. Moving
forward, I will attend all of the different
departments meetings. I feel like this will
encourage them to collaborate with me
more.
