SITUATION DESCRIPTION: The Atascocita High School football team won it’s
first ever playoff football game. You were unable to attend and the only thing that
you know is the Eagles won. Analyze each of the documents and write a thesis
statement that describes the game. Then back up your thesis with points from the
documents. Cite the document author and number in your essay.

DOCUMENT 1: Blog post on Mr. Duez’s World History site.

DOCUMENT 2: Quote from Coach Colbert, AHS Eagles

“It was incredible, “Colbert said. “Our kicker has ice water in his veins. But that is the way we have
been all year. The kids feel like they are always going to find a way to win. They stick together like a
band of brothers. They all try and provide positive energy. In the end, we always seem to get the job
done. “

“Our kids are playing with a lot of confidence and feel like they can win,“ he said. “We will be
ready for the challenge and accept it. These young men have invested so much into this season.
They really play hard. They will leave it all out there on the field. “

Colbert said Chavez was very talented.

“The film didn't do them justice, “he said of the 7-4 Lobos. “They were a lot better than they looked
on film. It was a playoff atmosphere. I think they played their best game, too. “

Atascocita is not very well coached on the offensive side of the ball, but is very
talented.

Kent Brooks, Javris Neal, and Epps make for a very dangerous running trio.
Having WR Quinten Parks (6'3 220lbs) and WR Everett Pleasant (6'5 215lbs) is
help to them when they can't get the running game going, Parks is the real
deal....While Pleasant plays much softer then his size.

Their QB is fairly good...Had he decided to move into the district from Cleveland
about 3 more blocks over....We would be talking about Humble in the playoffs...
He is about 6'3 200lbs, and has some feet...He prefers to pass

Their O-line is more built to run the ball however, and the pass blocking is kind of
weak against a decent pass rush...They are bigger then they have been on the O-
line this year...Two guys over 6'3 260lbs...

The only reason this team has won as many games as they have is due to their
defense. While i will say that i have seen much better in years past, they are
probably one of the better defensive units i have seen this year...Period. Better
then NS....Better then Ike...just below Hightower.

Atascocita runs past Chavez in OT thriller
