Unavoidable Disruption
To be considered for withdrawal without academic penalty applicants must establish that they have experienced
unavoidable disruption to their studies. The timing of the disruption must have been evident after Census Date or
become substantially worse after Census Date such that it made it impossible to continue in your studies.
Macquarie University defines unavoidable disruption as an event or circumstance that:
1. could not have reasonably been anticipated, avoided or guarded against, and
2. was beyond the students control, and
3. caused substantial disruption to the students capacity for effective study and/or the completion of required
work to the extent that they were unfit to complete the unit, and
4. substantially interfered with the otherwise satisfactory fulfilment of unit program requirements.
Applicants must establish that their circumstances meet all four criteria before making an application.
4. Lodge the application and supporting documentation with the relevant administration office
