ESCo model
Taking the risk of customer savings.
In 2015 the company received accreditation as Energy service company in Italy and started
operating as ESCo in many efficiency projects.

Shared Savings business model

Following a detailed analysis of customer energy consumption, Glayx defines a detailed design of required
installations for a better efficiency.
Initial investments are completely held by Glayx ESCO, through subscription of typical ESCo or operative
rental contract. The customer and Glayx share the savings coming out from the project during a period
varying from 5 to 15 years depending on financial return.
Over that period, the Customer get the full property of installations and and the entire earnings
amount.

Research & Development

was founded in 2012 as a Glayx spin-off and is fully dedicated to the development of
innovative advanced technological solutions, environmentally sustainable. Since foundation, the
company has been working on three main matters:

Concentrated solar:

started in 2012, the project yielded a proprietary solution called

ThermeX that entered the market on 2014.

Methanation process:

started in 2014, the activity is addressed to the validation of a

methanation system starting from variable load renewable energy; currently on-going first
prototype construction (Gas4all);

Thermal storage:

started in 2015, the project is finalized to develop an efficient and

economic heat storage using sintetic zeolite

ThermeX Solar Concentrator.

Operating Principles:
ThermeX uses high reflectivity flat mirrors to concentrate the incident solar radiation on selectivecoated collector tube able to minimize heat losses with the external ambient environment.

Within the collector tube, a heat transfer

fluid flows at increasing temperature;
basing on specific application, the fluid
can be diathermal oil, super heated
water, or steam.
ThermeX can efficiently exploit solar
Direct Normal Irradiation and fluid outlet
temperature can achieve 230C.

ThermeX Solar Concentrator.

ThermeX Strenght-points:
Flexibility: the system generates heat transfer fluid up to 230C outlet temperature; the
thermal energy can be exploited in various operative manners based on specific
requirements; system modularity allows an easy integration of the whole installation upon
available areas and the concentration factor can be selected as a function of required
process temperature.
Efficiency: the whole ThermeX system is the final result of an accurate study on several
design solutions finalized to specific cost optimization and high thermal and optic
efficiencies; ThermeX target specific cost is 40% lower than other similar system and
comparable with the specific cost associated to power generation system with 100 times
area extension

Manufacturing Model ThermeX:

ThermeX Solar Concentrator.

ThermeX Strenght-points:
Convenience: ThermeX concept is based on heat generation as a direct result of collecting
solar energy; lack of further energy transformation is a key-point in achieving a competitive
heat cost compared to traditional fossil fuels, most preferable for direct power generation.

An integrated production line:
Glayx launched a production site fully dedicated to ThermeX manufacturing. The
plant, located in the Southern Italy, started its operations in early-2015 and
enables the semiautomated production of ThermeX modules with a yearly
capacity of over 20.000 m2 of solar mirrors. The production line is fully integrated
and has been designed with high level of innovation.

A milestone in the ThermeX development path:

required accuracy of manufactured mirrors internally
checked minimizing production waste;
simplification of the overall production cycle involving an
impressive reduction of manufacturing time and costs;
integrated management system ensuring quality and
efficiency to the whole manufacturing process and a
proper check on end product
