LEADERSHIP THEORIES AND STUDIES

Andy Garafallo manages to build success for his business by reviving
his Italian heritage in his bistro. Andys self-confidence is a vital factor in
his business success. Headship necessitates influencing others, and selfconfidence aids the leader to be certain of his efforts to influence others
are appropriate (Northouse, 2010).
Andy may be lacking in the numbers attribute of the restaurant, but
everything else is good enough to ensure his profit target is reached. He
has adequate technical skill enough to keep his restaurant famous and
thriving. People can imagine if makes the changes to make his business
perfect, hike prices, reduce quality (Northouse 67) if this would actually
boost him, or fail him. This is a silent blessing that he does not expand its
ideas. Andy's human skills are proven uninterruptedly, this is attributed to
the number of customers coming back to his hotel. An advantage Andy
has is that he understands the incompetence each of his manager has.
Toting up to self-confidence, other traits portrayed by Andy in leadership
theories and studies consist of brainpower, determination, integrity, and
amiability (Robbins & Coulter, 2007). The case study suggests that
Garafallo is perceptual and reasoning abilities demonstrate his leadership
aptitude, and that his business triumph embodies his determination,
integrity, and sociability (Northouse, 2010).
Basing the argument on the skills perspective the three managers,
Kelly, Danielle, and Patrick need to improve their skills for an effective
business management; according to the case study, each manager has
different weakness and strengths as follows

LEADERSHIP THEORIES AND STUDIES

Kelly in the management Kelly portrays a number of positive traits that
sees the business thrive as she is honest, dependable, efficient and
organized , the only setback that Kelly has is that she has trouble
getting along with the salespeople, those delivering goods and the wait
staff. With the above traits, the skill set needed in Kelly is the Human
Skills. Kelly needs to learn how to work with co-workers in her work chain.
Kelly understands what task to do, how to go by the task - but does not
know how to do so with fellow co-workers.
Danielle among the three mangers , Danielle is the longest serving
manager(6 years), this shows how she is loyal to the company, she is
indeed dedicated to Garafallos, her traits depicts how insightful and
hospitable she is. The only setback in Danielle is that she is poor in
numbers. Technically lacking she has the human skill lay down and the
conceptual abilities flow into what the corporate proprietor believes.
Danielle should jog her technical skills for this entity, as the other aspects
of the business she proves to be effective.
Patrick - he is technical and he has portrayed his capability for
multitasking as he can manage both the kitchen and front. Patrick is
dependable and dedicated. The only missing trait in Patrick is human
skills. Patrick has great success as a director. However, poor human skills
will drag him back if he does not work on it as treating people poorly in a
service-oriented business as it will lead to it fall off.
I can describe Andys leadership skill as a leader who has selfconfidence, technical skill, and blending it all with human skills. Andy has

been able to be an operative leader with three-skill sets met. His short of
may be keeping his business booming. Making drastic changes to an
already profitable business may be a deathbed to the business. Andy is
has good leadership model.
