DEPUTY DIRECTOR

The Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GWHCC) is a 501(c) (6) membership
organization with the mission to promote and facilitate the success of Hispanic and other
minority-owned businesses and the communities they serve through networking, outreach,
advocacy, and education. Since 1976, GWHCC has been a widely recognized and esteemed
organization and it is the oldest Hispanic chambers of commerce in the DC metropolitan area.
RESPONSIBILITIES
GWHCC seeks a Deputy Director to work closely with the President & CEO and serve in a variety
of capacities for this growing and expanding non-profit. The Deputy Director will partner with the
President & CEO in all aspects of strategy, programming, outreach, and operations and assist in
the day-to-day administrative, project management and staff responsibilities of the Chamber. As
a member of GWHCCs senior leadership team, the Deputy Director will report directly to the
President & CEO and will play a key role in the management of the organization.
JOB DESCRIPTION
PROJECT DEVELOPMENT, MANAGEMENT, AND CLIENT RELATIONS/MANAGEMENT

Partner with the President & CEO in essential internal organizational leadership
activities (human resources, administration, and organizational planning).
Manage increasing segments of information technology, human resources (recruiting,
reviews, staff deployment/workload balancing, and career progression) with related
internal communications and budgeting/finance duties.
Drive the day-to-day administrative, project management and staff responsibilities of
the Chamber.
Identify best practices and improve internal systems with an eye toward future needs
and budget realities.
Structure and lead teams to deliver outstanding client work.
Serve as mentor and coach; visible, approachable sounding board/resource.
Share in knowledge dissemination, reporting, and communications.
Build and maintain strong client relationships; exceptional relationship-builder.
Represent GWHCC at industry-group conferences, professional associations, and other
public venues.
Identify and garner additional funding streams for the Chamber, focusing on corporate
sponsorship, and local, federal and private foundation grants.

QUALIFICATIONS

5-8 distinguished years in a senior management position in a nonprofit organization,


foundation, or government agency.
Advanced or MBA degree.
Track record delivering superior results, commanding respect, and assuming leadership
roles.

Success in roles requiring execution of multiple tasks while responding to multiple


priorities.
Proven ability to work with efficiency and flexibility.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide array of people
junior and senior, for-profit and nonprofit, and from diverse backgrounds.
Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
Poise and presence in front of large audiences.
Passion about GWHCCs mission and impact.
Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in all settings.
Self-starter and self-disciplined.
Spark, imagination, creativity.
Ability to remain focused in the face of pressure, delivers against timelines, not
intimidated by tasks/time limitations.
