O yogena cittasya padena vc


mala arrasya ca vaidyakena.
Yopkarot-ta pravara munn
patajali prjalir-natosmi.1.
Yogena = through yoga; cittasya = of the mind-content; padena = through grammar; vc = of
speech; mala = impurity; arrasya = of the body; ca = and; vaidyakena = through Ayurveda.
Ya = he who; apkarot = removed; ta = to him; pravara = most exalted; munn = among the
contemplative sages; patajali = to Patajali; prjali = with folded palms; nata = bowed down;
asmi = I am.
I bow down with folded palms to Sage Patajali, the most exalted among the contemplative sages,
who removed the impurity of the mind-content through yoga, of speech through grammar and of
the body through Ayurveda.1.

bhu purukra akha-cakrsi-dhriam.


Sahasra-irasa veta pranammi patajalim.2.

bhu = up to the arms; purua-kra = to the one with a human form; akha- = conch; cakra- =
discus; asi- = sword; dhriam = to the one who holds; sahasra-irasa = to the thousand-headed
one; veta = to the radiant one; pranammi = I prostrate; patajalim = to Sage Patajali.
I prostrate to the thousand-headed radiant sage Patajali, who is in human form up to his arms and
holds a conch, discuss and sword.

Guru = master; brahm = Lord Brahm (the creator aspect of God); guru = master; viu = Lord
Viu (the preserver aspect of God); guru = master; deva = divine being; mahevara = Lord iva
(the destructive aspect of God); Guru = master; skt = manifestly; para = supreme; brahma =
Brahman, Pure Consciousness; tasmai = to him; r-gurave = to the master; nama = prostration.
The Guru (master) is Lord Brahm. The Guru is Lord Viu. The Guru is the Divine Lord iva. The Guru
is Supreme Brahman (Pure Consciousness) visibly present. Prostration to the Guru.
Om Peace Peace Peace.

O pram-ada pram-ida prt pram-udacyate.


Prasya pram-dya pram-evvaiyate.

pram = complete, infinite; ada = that (Pure Consciousness); pram = complete, infinite; ida =
this (creation or individual consciousness); prt = from the complete, infinite; pram = the
complete; infinite; udacyate = arises; prasya = of the complete, infinite; pram = the
completeness, infinitude; dya = after taking; pram = the complete, infinite; eva = alone;
avaiyate = remains.
Om. That (Brahman, Pure Consciousness) is infinite. This (creation) is infinite. The infinite arises from
the infinite. Taking the infinitude of the infinite (creation), the infinite (Brahman, Pure
Consciousness) alone remains. Om Peace, Peace, Peace.

O sarve bhavantu sukhina sarve santu nirmay.


Sarve bhadri payantu m kacid-dukha-bhg-bhavet.
O nti nti nti.
Sarve = all; bhavantu = may become; sukhina = happy, joyous, blissful; sarve = all; santu = may
become; nirmay = free from illness; sarve = all; bhadri = pleasant; beautiful; payantu = may
see, experience; m = may not; kacid = anyone; dukha-bhg = partaker in suffering; bhavet =
become.
Om. May all become happy!
May all be free from illness!
May all see what is pleasant and beautiful!
May no one partake in suffering!
