Marketing Department Experimental Research Hub Credit System

As a student in this class, you will be entered into a participant pool and have the
opportunity to participate in experiments to earn up to 5 experimental credits. Your
instructor will provide the specifics of how this credit will affect your grade.
You should receive an email by the first Friday of classes giving you a login id and
password for the Marketing Departments Experimental Research Hub website. If you do
not receive an email by the first Friday of classes, please email the lab administrator at:
mktexperiments@tigers.lsu.edu to correct the issue. Once you have this information,
visit the site (http://lsu-bus.sona-systems.com) and sign in.
SIGNING UP FOR EXPERIMENTS: Studies may be conducted in computer labs,
online, or in your classroom. Be sure to check the Research Hub website to determine the
location of the study. Sign up for studies at a time that is convenient for you (with the
exception of in-class studies, which will be announced by your instructor). Studies will
be posted throughout the semester, so check the site often to secure a time slot that is
convenient. If you sign up for a study but find that you cant make it, please cancel
at least 2 hours prior to the study to allow others to sign up for the open spot.
Simply visit the website and cancel the reservation. Repeatedly missing studies
without cancelling your reservations may lead to your not being allowed to
participate in future studies. You may also participate in a study as a walk-in (for in
lab studies only) if you have not participated in the study previously. However, priority
will be given to students who signed up, so you are not guaranteed a spot without signing
up. You may sign up until the start of the study.
AWARDING CREDITS: Credit assignment is based upon the estimated time a study
should take to complete. One credit is assigned for each hour increment of estimated
completion time or portion thereof. An experiment with an estimated time of 0-30
minutes earns one credit, 30-60 earns two credits, etc. To receive full credit you must
total 5 credits from these studies. Typically, studies are only 1 or 2 credits, so dont hold
out for a 5 credit mega-study.
TRACKING CREDITS: You may track credits from all of your experiments by
logging onto the research hub website and checking the credits you have in the system.
We try to add these quickly, but if more than a few days goes by and you do not see
credit, please email the lab administrator immediately to correct the issue rather than
waiting until the end of the semester. If you are in more than one participating class, you
may switch credits between the classes as you desire up to the close of the lab at the end
of the semester, but each credit only counts toward one course.
STUDIES ARE AVAILABLE OFTEN! SIGN-UP SOON IF YOU WOULD LIKE
TO PARTICIPATE!

Academic Misconduct
Integrity and honesty are as important in the classroom as in the workplace. It is fully expected
that each of you will behave with the highest integrity and honesty in your dealings with me and
your classmates. Violations involving academic honesty and integrity will be treated in
conformity with the general rules and guidelines of the Ourso College of Business and Louisiana
State University and A&M College, including lowering grades or failing affected students on
exams, assignments, or the course as a whole. The University's general policy on academic
integrity and honesty is as follows:
The use of unauthorized material, communication with fellow students during an exam,
attempting to benefit from the work of another student, or similar behavior that defeats the intent
of an examination, case, project, or other course assignment or requirement is unacceptable.
Cheating on examinations/projects, plagiarism, improper acknowledgment of sources(s), use of a
single paper in more than one course, etc., are considered very serious offenses and shall be
grounds for the most severe disciplinary action possible, including failure in a course or
dismissal, or both, from the University.
Further details regarding academic misconduct are available in the LSU Student Code of
Conduct, which may be accessed at:
http://appl003.lsu.edu/slas/dos.nsf/$Content/Code+of+Conduct?OpenDocument#5.0
