David Alvarez Flores (Spain, 1900-1940) was a cartoonist, illustrator and publicist.

With
the coup of July 1936 that led to the Civil War he joined the Basque Antifascist Militias,
fighting in the defense of Madrid with the Popular Republican Army, collaboring also on the
design of posters during the conflict. He was arrested at the end of the war. In prison he
made countless drawings to many of the detainees: intelectuals, poets, artists,...

Self-portrait

Andreu Dameson Aspa (1897 -1967) was a Spanish illustrator and cartoonist. Finished
the Spanish Civil War, was exiled first in France and then in Argentina, where spent the
rest of his life collaborating in various critic magazines and newspapers, portraying some
of the main personalities of his time.

Buenaventura Durruti, an anarcho-syndicalist militant involved with the CNT, FAI and
other anarchist organisations during the period leading up to and including the
Spanish Civil War. He played an influential role during the Spanish Revolution and is
remembered as an international hero in the Anarchist movement.

Ibrruri Dolores Gmez, La Pasionaria, was a political leader of the Second Spanish
Republic. Leader of the Communist Party of Spain, in its political struggle joined the fight
for the rights of women to prove that, no matter their condition, they are free to choose
their destiny beings. Some of the most famous quotations from hes speeches (now world
famous) are her "No pasarn!" or "Better to die standing than live on your knees."

Eneko Las Heras


is one of the most popular cartoonist in Spain. The class
consciousness, the power of the big economic groups, political corruption or historical
memory, are some of the issues that Eneko uses to describe the nowdays reallity. He
publishes his works in newspapers of wide national circulation and collaborates with
leading libertarian publications.

"El Roto" (Andrs Rbago Garca), is a very popular cartoonist and humorist graph in
Spain. He has published his images throughout his career regularly in over 20
publications, and currently does daily for the main national newspaper. His works are
graphic comments to reflect on contemporary concerns.

In the drawing Franco, the leader of the national-catholic dictatorship in Spain between 1936-1979. It refers to
the rejection of the government to retake the Law of Historical Memory to recognice the victims of that period.

Ferreres i Miquel Duran (1950) is a cartoonist and caricaturist, one of the main
collaborators of the weekly humor magazine in Spain "El Jueves". He also works for
different publications and catalan newspapers.
