Introduction of OxfordGo
The OxfordGo (dictionary reader), especially developed for the PDA
community, is based on the renowned dictionaries from Oxford
University Press. It allows you to use 5 different dictionaries such as
Concise Oxford Medical, English Spanish, Spanish English, English
German and German - English at the same time.
This pocket PC version includes features and functionality NOT
AVAILABLE in the print version as following:

Installation for Pocket PC


Requirements: The OxfordGo only requires 4 MB of free space, but if you
install Oxford Dictionary data files then you have to check needed spaces
for corresponding dictionary.
You need to have MS Active Sync Software on your device.
Unzip downloaded file to a folder with a zip tool. The popular unzip
program WinZip is available at www.winzip.com
1. Run setup file with the name OxfordGo_Run_This_First.exe and
follow instructions
2. When finished installing the reader please run the setup file for data
(e.g: if you buy Medical Dictionary then run Oxford_Med_Dict.exe )
3. After finish installing data files, go to Start Menu>>Program here
you will see the symbols of OxfordGo

and OxfordSee

4. Open OxfordGo then here you go


We recommend storing in the Storage Card when the installation asks to
select Main Memory or Storage Card.
You can copy the CAB file to your device and run the CAB file directly
but it will automatically install the software to the main memory.

Uninstallation
To remove the product from your Pocket PC:
1. Go to Start menu >> Settings
2. Open System and tap on Remove Programs
3. Select OxfordGo from the list and tap on the Remove button
4. Choose Yes to confirm removing

Components of OxfordGo
The product includes two components:
OxfordGo: The main module that allows you to search by word, by fixed
form, to listen to pronunciation.
OxfordSee: A module that enables you to search for words in other
applications such as Pocket IE, MS Reader and Pocket Word.

Instruction of functions
Word search: to search for a word, simply type it in the textbox (using
the

standard build-in keyboard), tap on the button and the

meaning will appear. You also have the alternative of choosing the word
from the list-box. If you want to see the Keyword List, just tap on the
Down-arrow icon in the Word-Entry box
The keyboard will appear automatically when tapping on the WordEntry textbox. You can show/hide the keyboard by tapping on the
keyboard button in the toolbar.

Advanced Search:
Pattern Search: In addition to searching by the regular method, with

OxfordGo you can also search by pattern. For example:

To search words including tion, you type {*tion*}

The ? mark stands for one character.

The * mark stands for none or several characters.

On the main screen, tap on the

button in the toolbar and then select

Anagram search: With this function you can search for words built up by

the same letters. All letters from the board box will be included, while
only one letter from the rack box will be

included in each word.

You can sort the result alphabetical or by length. On the main screen, tap

Phonetic search: You enter an approximate spelling of a word. The

phonetic search will return a list of words that SOUND like what was
entered. Phonetic search will automatically search for words which are
spelled differently but may sound the same
Adding notes: With this utility, you can attach comments to the in-task
word. On the main screen, tap on the

icon and enter your notes for

the current in-task word, save notes by taping on the

button.

If a keyword contains a comment, the Notes Icon will change color


to . To remove your comments, just tap on the icon again, delete all
text and choose Save.

Audio Pronunciation: OxfordGo is the program that provides word


pronunciation. After searching, tap on the

button to hear the audio

pronunciation. You can hear pronunciation of all keywords. Together with


the phonetic transcript feature, it can be a helpful function for improving
your pronunciation.
For the audio feature to work properly, please make sure that you
have activated sounds for Programs at Start menu >> Settings >>
Sounds & Notifications
Using favorites list: To add a word to the favorites list, just tap on the
button. To remove a word from the list, merely tap on the

button

again.
Using history list: This is a list of the words previously looked up. At
present, the list is limited to 500 words
and they are stored automatically. To
access the list, tap on the (

) button

If

you tap on the back-arrow, you will get


the most recent word.
If you want to remove a word from the
history list, just Tap N Hold on the list then you can see the pop-up

history list (these will not be saved when you
turn the device off)

into words studied by any week or month.

This function will allow you to

Enable Audio: To activate the audio pronunciation feature. You can


also adjust the volume of the voice (this is an internal adjustment
and will not affect other applications)
Enable Clear Type: If you want to read text clearer then choose this
option.
Font family: Change font type in the meaning view
Font size: Change font size in the meaning view
Study Assistant
Default Wordlist: choose the wordlist you want to use for your study
assistant function.
Auto add: the number of words you
want to be automatically added to the
study-list each day.
Add Now: add the words to the studylist.
Random/Sequential: add the words
to
the
study-list
randomly

sequentially.
Clear All: To clear the study list. All previous studied words will be
removed.
OxfordSee

Auto Start: automatically start


Lexisee when the device starts.
Approximate/Exact match: If
this option is checked, the system
will search for words with similar
spelling if no exact match is found.
If not checked, it will instead say
word not in word list!

Other

You can change word-type order in


definition view in here, just select
word-type and move up/down to
arrange its order. This feature is
very helpful for advanced learner.
You also can change the speed of
scrolling in the definition window.

Using OxfordSee:

To find words in other applications such as MS Reader, Mobipocket


Reader, Pocket IE, Opera Brower, PocketBible, Pocket Word and
Notepad. OxfordGo provides you with the OxfordSee module.
For example, from Pocket Word, just move the indicator to the word

you want to lookup and then tap on onto the OxfordSee


to see the definition.

If you want to hear a long text read out, select the section you want
to hear, Tap n Hold on the OxfordSee button and then choose menu
and <Read>

You cannot use smart text selection for non-editable objects in


Pocket MS Reader or Pocket IE, instead you have to select the word
first and then tap on the OxfordSee symbol. You are also able to
change into Full-view screen from the Quick-view screen of OxfordGo
if you tap on the {home} button.

How to buy and register OxfordGo with Oxford Dictionary


OxfordGo is dictionary reader, a component of Oxford Dictionary
package, so if you purchase Oxford dictionary product then you will
receive both Oxford Dictionary data files and OxfordGo (the dictionary
reader).

After receiving the registration key, unlock the product:


1. Go to Start menu >> Programs then tap on OxfordGo icon to
start.
2. Go to Menu Tools >> About.
3. Enter the key and tap on Register button.
The Name on Oxfordgos about box is not changeable, if you wish
to change the owner name please go to Start menu >> Settings
>>Owner Information
After successfully completing registration, please write down the
name and number and store in a safe place. You will need the
registration key if you are going to reinstall the software in a new
device or incase your device is hard-reset.
