Process Simulation Using Aspen HYSYS V8.

Why Aspen HYSYS?

Aspen HYSYS is a market-leading process modeling
tool for conceptual design, optimization, business
planning, asset management, and performance
monitoring for oil & gas production, gas processing,
petroleum refining, and air separation industries.
Aspen HYSYS is a core element of AspenTechs
aspenONE Process Engineering applications.

Getting Started
Workshop
The Getting Started module introduces you to some of the
basic concepts necessary for creating simulations in HYSYS.
Some of the things you will learn from this module are:
Methods for moving through different environments
Selecting property packages and components
Adding streams
Attaching utilities
You will use HYSYS to define three streams. You will learn
how to determine the properties of these streams by using
the Property Table utility.

Getting Started
Learning Objectives
Once you have completed this section, you will be
able to:
Define a Fluid Package (Property Package and
Components)
Add Streams
Understand Flash Calculations
Attach Stream Utilities
Customize the Workbook

Getting Started

Example:
We have a stream containing (Nitrogen 0.01 %, CO2 3.2%,H2S 1.5% , Methane 69%, Ethan
10.65 % , Propane 8.56 %, I-Butane 3.25 % , N-butane 1.1 %, I-Pentane 0.76 % ,
n-Pentane 1.09 % , C6+ 0.68 % , Water 0.2 % at 50F and atmospheric pressure, and a
flow rate of 100lbmole/hr. This stream is to be compressed to 50 psia and then
cooled to 32F. The resulting vapor and liquid are to be separated as the two
product streams. Neglect the pressure drop inside the condenser.
C6+ Properties (API = 46 & MW= 236)
Fluid pakage: Peng Robinson
What are the flow rates and molar compositions of two product streams?
Create a case study to see the effect of changing temperature of the cooler out stream on
the molar flow of the liquid product stream, and write your comment.

Case Study We need to study the effect of changing the Temperature of the cooler out stream
(stream To Two Phase Separator) on the flow rate of the liquid product stream. Use range: from -30 to
30 oC with step size =5 C To create a case study in HYSYS you can simply click on Case Studies button
