UnidirectionalLinkDetection(UDLD)monitorsalinkbetweentwoHPNetworkingswitchesandblockstheportsonbothendsofthelinkif
thelinkfailsatanypointbetweenthetwodevices.Thisfeatureisparticularlyusefulfordetectingfailuresinfiberlinksandtrunks.

Inthefollowingexample,switchesRack2sw1andRack2sw2areconfiguredforUDLD.TheL1interfacesareenabledforUDLDexchange
healthcheckpacketsonceeveryfiveseconds(thelinkkeepaliveinterval).Ifaportdoesnotreceiveahealthcheckpacketfromtheportat
theotherendofthelinkwithinthekeepaliveinterval,theportwaitsforfourmoreintervals.Iftheportstilldoesnotreceiveahealthcheck
packetafterwaitingforfiveintervals,theportconcludesthatthelinkhasfailedandblockstheUDLDenabledport.
