Landmark
This landmark was built on the border of the country and its empire in order to protect it from
invaders, nomads, forces, and warriors. It was a series of several fortifications that started to be
built in the 7th century BC. They were then joined and changed into a bigger, stronger and unified
wall. Most of the wall was rebuilt during the Ming Dynasty. Its the largest structure humans have
ever built. During that time, the wall had another purpose, which consisted of controlling the
border, and supervising the taxes on goods transported through the Silk Road. Later on, the
fortifications were enhanced by watch towers.
As nowadays little of this wall remains, the landmark has been rebuilt often, in order to keep it
maintained as a touristic attraction. Several tour companies in China offer a tour to this place
every day. On public holidays in the country, it becomes crowded and sometimes you have just a
little room to climb up or get down from it. At some points there are cable cars that you can take
up to the top if you are not very keen on walking. The sight is considered one of the most beautiful
and impressive in China.

pure fruit juice. Natural fruit juice is very healthy and can provide hydration, minerals and vitamins
to the body. Sugar is not really necessary since fruits are naturally sweet. Another option is
industrialized juice, which comes in boxes and is very tasty as well but usually contains
preservatives, artificial aromas, and added sugar.

artificial flavors of orange, grape, ginger, peach, kola nuts, among others. They are served cold.
There are also many different kinds of alcoholic drinks. Some of them consist of the addition of
fruit or creams and sweet ingredients or a soft drink to the alcoholic beverage, served with ice.
There is also a large list of hot beverages, such as the ancient and welcoming tea, with different
types of flavors based on plants and fruit, the worldwide known black coffee and the coffee-based
drinks such as the caf au lait, cappuccino, latte, mocha, etc.
But there is one specific type of drink that is the base for all of them. None of them can be made

Internet
Internet has transformed contemporary society. Decades ago the use of computers was restricted
to a few companies. They used to be huge in size and were quite complicated to operate. After
some time, the first personal computer was developed. After that, Internet was created to be able
to connect one computer to another and, from then on, information started to spread all over the
World Wide Web. Nowadays, one can find just about any type of information on the Internet,
from trustworthy sources to those that are not very reliable. It has brought people together and
brought speed to communication in such an easy way that, now, having to use the telephone or
take your car to go somewhere is simply unnecessary. Social networks are used by individuals to
stay in touch with people and keep up with the news. They are also useful for companies to
display their products and keep in touch with their clients and with tendencies. Instant
messengers connected to smartphones makes quick communication even easier. Another
important tool has substituted the old-fashioned writing and posting of letters and is still very
useful for staying in touch with people and attaching documents.

Means of transportation have been an important and essential need of facilitating locomotion
from ancient times up to today. Important improvements have been made since the first animal
and human-powered transport were invented. One of the greatest achievements of the Industrial
Revolution was the steam locomotive and now today, the modern and fast bullet trains.
Its important to mention that means of transportation have to be provided in sufficient quantity
as well as quality. Besides, they have to be well planned in order to make transportation applicable
and viable.
The main modes of transport nowadays are subways, trains, buses, ferries, and airplanes. Special
attention should be paid to one kind of vehicle, which is also used as a popular form of recreation.
Using this two-wheeled vehicle is considered healthy, doesnt pollute the environment, can be
parked easily and moves along traffic with ease as it doesnt occupy the space of a car. But it can
be dangerous, though, to ride it in places where there are no specific lanes for these narrow, light
vehicles. But it could be considered an important mode of transport if governments paid it its due

only type of room in a house, though. Houses that have this type of room usually have the main
room and others for their children, for example. Some families keep these rooms empty for people
who come to visit them; others rent theirs out. In the latter case, this can be a vital source of

Sculpture
Auguste Rodin was a sculptor of French nationality. He had an incredible ability to work with clay.
During his lifetime he had his work severely criticized. The sculptures of his age tended to have
decorative purposes, while Rodins works were about mythology and allegory. He modeled the
human body with realism and preserved individual, physical characteristics. He was very sensitive
to the criticism he received, but never changed his style. By 1900 he had become a worldrenowned artist. He was sought by wealthy clients after an exhibition where he had his work
displayed. After his death, in 1917, his sculptures suffered a decline in popularity, but within a few
decades his work was recognized. One, among many famous works, consists of a bronze sculpture
on a marble pedestal, depicting the image of a nude man sitting and meditating while resting his
head in one of his hands and the other on one of his knees. Its used to frequently represent
philosophy. Originally, the sculpture was intended to represent the figure of the Italian poet Dante
Alighieri pondering his work The Divine Comedy. Rodins intention with this sculpture was to
represent intellect as well as poetry. The sculpture is in the Muse Rodin in Paris. Its original name
in French is Le Penseur.

Invention
This well-known scientist was born in 1847 in Edinburgh, Scotland. He moved to Canada, and then
to the United States, settling in the city of Boston, before beginning his career as an inventor. He
had been interested in the education of deaf people. The fact that his mother and wife were deaf
may have influenced him and his interest in this field. This interest lead him to invent the
microphone and, in 1876, his "electrical speech machine," which is considered an indispensable
object nowadays. News of his invention spread throughout the United States and Europe. By the
1870s he had set up the first connection exchange in New Haven, Connecticut. From then on,
distance connections were made between Massachusetts and New York.
This scientist imagined great uses for this tool, but he would never have imagined it being used to
transmit video images. Since his death in 1922, the telecommunication industry has undergone an
incredible revolution. Nowadays, deaf people are able to use special display telephones to
communicate. His "electrical speech machine" was a very important step to modernity.

Planet
This planet has two and a half times the mass of the other planets that compose the Solar System
combined. It is classified as a gas giant along with other planets in the Solar System. This planet is
associated with mythology and religious beliefs from different cultures. It is composed mainly of
hydrogen, helium, and liquid matter. Surrounding this planet is a faint planetary ring system and a
powerful magnetosphere. It has 67 moons, including the four larger moons that were discovered
by the astronomer Galileo Galilei in 1610. The largest moon has a diameter greater than that of
the planet Mercury. The outer atmosphere of this planet is visibly separated into different bands
at different latitudes, culminating in storms and turbulences along their boundaries. The result is
the Great Red Spot, a huge storm which has occurred since at least the 17th century when it was
first seen by telescope. This planet is the largest in the Solar System and the fifth planet from the
Sun.
