Assembly Guide

For Prusa I3

Y-axis
1. Motor for Y-axis
Find below parts kit for Y-axis, plus a stepper motor

Assemble as per below picture. Please use a nylon washer to separate motor from motor
holder of Y-axis.

Please pay attention to position and orientation of limit switch (as shown in below photo).

2. Y-axis timing belt holder

Find below parts kit

After assembling, it should look as below picture. (For the screw going through bearing: it
should be moderately fixed, not too tight, to allow bearing run at ease).

3. Y-axis frame
Find below parts kit

Upper rod length 395mm, lower grooved rod length 415mm.

After assembling, it should look as below picture.

Assembling of front part of printer:

After assembling, it should look as below picture.

Now we add the Y-axis stepper motor (now ready after we assembled it in step 1)behind the
front frame:

After assembling, it should look as below picture.

4 Assembling heat plate

Find below parts kit

Assemble timing belt holder as per below picture

After assembling, it should look as below picture.

Now we mount heat plate

Note: wire of plate should face towards stepper motor.

After mounting the heat plate, we insert linear bearing into the hole at ege of plate, use
nylon band to fix it tight in place, as shown in below picture:

Add timing belt to the structure, as per below photo:

Ends of belt fixed as per below picture:

After assembling, it should look as below picture.

Assembling X-axis
Find below parts kit:

Stepper motor, X-axis limit switch (long wire), and parts kit

Putting the spring in place

Wire of limit switch goes through below wire besides the stepper motor.

Pay attention to the orientation of the limit switch (as shown in above photo)

Find parts kit for the other side of X axis, as per below photo

Assemble as below drawing

Assembling holder for extruder

Find below parts kit

First we put two of M2.5 nuts on the holder, as below photo:

After assembling, it should look as below picture.

Assembling fixture unit for ends of timing belt:

On the left side we have the fixture terminal for timing belt; On the right, we have a
horizontal screw for adjusting tension of belt.

Assembling extruder

Specific procedures as follows:

First mount the aluminum block to stepper motor. Note: we need to put a washer between
block and the aluminum cylinder (as circled in below picture)

Mounting gear, bearing and spring:

Then we mount the set to a U-shaped aluminum holder.

(Note: please pay attention to direction of the stainless-steel feeder that goes through the
U-shape holder in below photo. The side with PTFE tube lining goes to the M6-hole of
extruder)

Mounting the heating unit and fan:

Assembling main frame of printer

Please pay attention to sequence: first put the acrylic parts together then assemble Z-axis,
otherwise we might be blocked by screw.
Note: there are two triangle-shaped plates. They are different: the one with 3-holes is for
assembling power supply. The one with four is for circuit.

Z-axis and stepper motor

Find below parts kit:

Add below printed parts to the acrylic plate

After assembling, it should look as below photo:

Assembling Z-axis motor: find below parts kit:

Assemble as below picture:

Note: before adding motor in place, we need to put nylon washers for buffering.

Then we can mount motor and limit switch.

Note: orientation of limit switch should be as below picture shows:

Then we add X-axis to Z-axis, as per below photo:

In the end, we add Y-axis to the acrylic frame, as shown in below picture:

Here below shows how to fix the triangle-shaped acrylic plates:
