Workers involving masonry work, personnel working in the proximity of the plastering
work, client, visitors.
Step 3: Possible consequences - What harm might occur where hazard could
arise
1) Serious or even fatal injury could occur if operatives falls from height other workers
below also at risk.
2) Fatality or minor injury from moving of vehicles/equipment hit to scaffold while
driving/reversing atsite
3) Health injury from mixing dry cement/plaster powder which may irritate eyes or
sensitive skin and cause short term irritation of respiratory system.
4) Fatality or minor injury from electrical connection, power tools, manual tools.
5) Severe or minor injury from improper manual handling, muscles pull, strain, back
pain.

Step 6: Further recommended control measures (Medium to very high risks must be
reduced to lowest level so far as is reasonably practicable).

Description
1) Scaffold should be erected, modification or dismantling under the
supervision of competent certified supervisor. Scaffold material
should free from any damages/bent. Leveled and compacted ground
condition. Overhead protection should be ensured and to prevent fall
of material from height. Proper guard, mid rail and toe board system.
Scaffold must be adequate braced and tied at various level and
interval. Fully planked and material load should be evenly distributed
on the platform and not concentrated in one area. Safe and
convenient access free from any obstacles. 100% tied if the scaffolds
more than 2m at or above height, select the good anchorage point
above the shoulder. Supervisor prior start the height work activity
makes sure inspected green tag.
2) Engaged competent driver/operator who possess valid
driving/operating license, and should be certified from 3 rd party with
good condition. Seat belt must be ensured all times by
operator/driver. Follow all the traffic rules and maintain a safe speed
site limit. Be alert for pedestrian, as much as avoid reversing but if it
not possible, assigned a competent flag man. Ensure that reverse
alarm, lighting are proper functioning. Avoid use of mobile phone
while driving. Avoid unsafe lifting by using the proper lifting
method/procedure.
3) Carry out job starting meeting to review job safety analysis. MSDS of
cement/concrete shall be reviewed prior commence the work.
Operatives to check his tools daily prior to use, and ensure good
condition tools shall be used. Workers shall be informed about correct
posture of manual lifting of cement bags, if possible to use
mechanical lifting, to avoid the manual lifting. Proper PPE particularly
hand gloves(rubber gloves), chemical mask to be used. Sufficient
rest break. No food policy eating and smoking at working area
(except mess hall/designated area), forbidden Sleeping at site. Avoid
using loose cloths while working at height or use of mixer machine,
mixer machine placed at leveled ground secure unauthorized entry
by providing barricades. Trained workers to be utilized. Wash proper
hands before taking meal.
4) Use proper inspected power tool or manual tools which should be
free from any damages. Supervisors make sure and communicated
them about the safe use of tools. Report about any damages tools to
site safety officer/storekeeper and Forman, damaged tools should be
removed from the working site immediately. Do not use cable wire
without 3 pin plug. Only authorized electrician make connection from
one place to other.

5) While unloading cement bags from the trailer, supervisor make sure
and remind to workers about safe lifting procedure including
knowledge of maximum (20kg) weight for an individual to manually
lift. Job rotation and sufficient rest break.
